2V Norge Love
« on: May 24, 2022, 01:26:30 PM »
Sold my Griso to a nice home and no regrets. I also owned a Monster 1000 S2R alongside the Norge, but now realize the big girl is the one I've always enjoyed most. Other bikes have more power, electronically adaptable suspension, choice of engine mapping, blah, blah, blah. None of that matters. What matters is the riding experience, and nothing tops a Norge. As someone said, "there's something about a Norge."

I like my 07 Norge but was tempted to get rid of it until I upgraded the entire suspension. Other than a few minor issues it has been a pretty good bike.

I've had two of them, a silver 2009 and now a red 2007. Between them have put on 100 K miles. Of the 25 bikes I have owned over my lifetime, this model is my favorite.

Definately one of the best looking Sport Touring rigs. I really liked mine, but when riding back to back, found I liked the 2V head motor in the Griso more than the 4Vhead Norge so I sold it. Traded it for an MGX-21 actually. That bike wasn't a good fit, so I sold it and started looking for a 2V Norge or 1200 Sport, and ended up with a 1200 Sport. Even though my Norge had several issues, it was such a great all around bike, and even saw significant dirt/mud gravel time when I looped Vancouver Island. Balanced, rock solid, and soft/smooth engagement on all the controls.

There is a sweetness and balance to that chassis that can't be matched. I idled the 1200 Sport this last year as I couldn't bring all my bikes with me on my short move to SC, but it will be coming with me to KY this summer and look forward to pushing it closer to 100K miles.  The 12S gives up some wind/weather protection to the Norge with less fairing, but is a welcome respite in hot weather. When I have the room, I can easily see adding one to the herd again.

Every time I start to think about selling the Norge (we have two bikes that basically do the same thing) I take it for a ride to remind myself why we still have it, great machine

It's too bad they are worth about the same money as a T-3.

I have been on a Guzzi rampage for about the last 6 years. 850T, Griso, California 1400 and a 2013 Norge. I sold the Griso because I just can't deal with the wind & buffeting. (Tinnitus) . The Norge windshield took some dialing in, but now that  little riddle is solved. The quatrovalve Norge is my favorite, without question. The torque/horsepower is perfect. It is uncanny smooth. It is reasonably light weight. It is beautiful, but in a quirky way. I did add a Corbin seat . And lowered footpegs. (Required kickstand modification as well as center stand mods.)
Overall, a fantastic motorcycle by every measure.

Same love for mine. 5,000 miles away from 100,000. I’ll get it by the end of July. Really no issues. Put a Beatle map in last fall and it’s on another level of enjoyment now. Tempted to buy another and store it for later so I will have another just in case.

Mine is currently in London waiting for me.
It will turn over 200,000 km at Lake Como as I always wanted it to. The plan is to have it at 199,900 and be completing a lap as it ticks over.
I have a lot of photo’s both in remote parts of Australia and top to bottom, left to right in Europe.
But these few are my favourites.

I bought my '08 new in 2010. I have had very few problems and it is still going strong at 45,000 miles.
On a long trip I can easily get 47 MPG. All day comfort and lots of room for all sorts of junk to take on a multi day trip.
I never tried the 4v Norge so I do not know the difference, but I love the low end power this engine makes.
I rarely take the engine over 5K RPM so extra high end power does not mean much.
I plan on keeping this bike for a while.

I do spin and shift the GRiSO and 1200 Sport to 6/7K (gawd the sound) , but I also prefer the 4V motor over the 8V despite the bump in power above 6K. I like the character, sub 6K sound and feel of the 4V motor.  I also like the lower simplicity of the 4V, and especially do not like the noises at idle and low RPM of the 8V motor.  All a matter of preference.

Though the Norge made more power than the Griso, I much preferred the sound and feel of the Griso motor.

Now all that said, after several iterations of a Beetle Map, removing the Cat and putting in a bypass pipe and aftermarket exhaust, I was finally able to get the motor to have the same feel as the 4V and was far more satisfying, but I got bit by the MGX bug and traded it. Sold it in 9 months, just wasn't for me......  I missed the Breva/Norge chassis so much I started looking for the right 4V Norge or 1200 Sport, and thankfully found Bob's 1200 Sport..... Happy Happy.........

Welcome to WG.. and I've been on a rampage since the 90s and my first Guzzi.  The Norge was the best mile eater of the (17!) gaggle. As I er.. matured, it started getting a little top heavy, and left for Florida. They are wonderful sport Touring bikes.
