I don't know if it will work with the Maverick- but I took the gate off my Tacoma and added some 1/2" L inside (bolted across the lift gate) to stiffen it up. I don't know that I've put 700# on it (I know I haven't), but it helped some.

Noted, thanks.Though same point on limitations and automatic adjustment. But now you've got me wondering how much adjustment is manually possible and if it wouldn't be enough to make carrying a bike feasible off a hitch carrier. Though I still isn't to think it's too past spec.Last edit really -Looks like it has different rear suspensions based on whether or not it's FWD or AWD. Some are a type of coil spring.https://www.motortrend.com/features/2022-ford-maverick-truck-force-vectoring-springs/
Who writes these articles? The El Camino had a 25 year production run in the states and was make up until a few years ago in Australia as the Holden Commodore UTE. The Subaru Brat ran 15 years. I guess it wouldn't have been much of a story if they only mentioned the Volkswagon and the Dodge Rampage. Plus, they are comparing a new crew cab vehicle to diminutive two seaters. The dimensions of the new Maverick are 200″ L x 73″ W x 69″ HThe 2004 Chevy S10 crew cab dimensions are 205″ L x 68″ W x 63″ HThe 2010 Explorer Sport Trac dimensions are 210″ L x 74″ W x 72″ HThe 2020 Nissan Frontier crew cab dimensions are 205.5" L x 72.8" W x 70.1" H.The new Maverick is not that diminutive. When I retire I need to start writing articles. Just make something up that gets enough views and ad revenue. LOL!
Looks nice! I do kinda like the new Maverick. I think its much nicer looking then Honda ridgeline. Im on a lot of truck groups, and its funny seeing the guys talk about it.. "Get a super duty because it can tow better" "you cant hold much gravel in that bed".. Ahh... ya you do know most truck on the road are just used for carrying a few bags of trash to the dump, and maybe some top soil and fert bags for the lawn right. Enjoy the new wheels!! I hope it serves you well.
Going into week two with mine now. Loving the utility and functionality of it. More than adequate power, good economy and good handling. Not a fan of the bar graph gages for fuel and temp. But that is what the 6" display of the FX4 package gets you.Getting the bed Line-X'd next week. Found out the hard way how soft the water based paint in the finish is. I even tired the load down. But pulling it out left a long mark. So Line-X will be money well spent.Yeah, it not a "real" truck. So what? For light duties that I need, it is perfect. And its a lot more pleasant to drive and live with than my last full sized Ram1500 was. Its ability to U turn is worth it! Its a mid sized car with a small truck bed. That is a great combo if it is what you need!
Going on month two with mine. XL, no frills version other than tow package and AWD. Loving it so far, other than the stock tires which absolutely suck. I have a 27 mile commute, averaging 28mpg so long as I don't let it warm up for 10 minutes.
so, not near 40 mpg ?

Wow-that is a short bed. Don't care- still like the overall package. But wow...
You either like them or you don’t with the Ranchero, el Camino, etc. I’ve owned the el Camino for 26 years.
bad ass.Is that the hybrid version?
I only use it to go to the lumber yard, mulch etc. The gas gauge isn't working very well and I'm too lazy to fix it so I make sure to put gas in it on every trip.
Yeah, when not doing yard work with it, you take the Mrs's to church on Sundays and do only seven quarters of miles in a week at time. It's a Sunday driver cream puff.
