I'd sure like a first-series SP-101 in .327 Federal Magnum.  I've got a snubbie .357 that's really nice.

I don't care for the latest .357s and .327s.  Different top strap and big sights.  I prefer the streamlined earlier ones.

Rocker, with the recently released version of the SP101 .327 Ruger went away from the concealable carry 3.02 inch barrel to what I consider a "trail gun" platform. 4 inch barrel and fiber optic sights in a smaller caliber ideal for varmints or potable meat you might encounter in the countryside . The older version in .327 mag pictured was commanding a premium and getting very hard to find for under $900.00.  Came across this one used a few months back but in near mint condition in my local non-franchise sporting goods store for $525 (w/o tax) with a very nice leather holster.  Right next to it was the new one for $600 and some change.   I echo what almost all fans of the .327 Fed Mag want. A Marlin Cowboy or plain blued 1894 lever barreled for the .327. My personal second choice would be a blued Ruger 77 bolt in full walnut Mannlicher stock.   :food:

Isn't that a 1927 reciever? I thought the M1 had the charging handle on top of the receiver with a notch in it to sight through.

I had the opportunity to fire a couplet of them for my last job. It is amazing how accurate they are throwing that .45 slug out to 400yds.

They all had the charging handle on top. During WW2 it was moved to the side and the milling for the drum magazine was removed to cut production cost and it was named an M1. Few more things were done to cut cost and it became the M1A1

Nice collections, Folks. My dad left me his war trophy J P Sauer and Sohns 1913. Nice pocket pistol. I like the military types mostly but have others as well. My newest is the S&W M&P 15. I just realized I have 4 times as many guns as bikes. I might unload a few.

Yeah. .22, .327, and .357 now available in the trail gun format. Not really my thing. 1st seris .22 and .327 will remain on my wish list.

It likely started life as a 2 1/2 incher and if it takes a 3 inch with no pressure or distortion upon extraction - it's likely een hogged-out to 3 inch.

If the action's tight and solid, 3 inch presents no problems for these.

No body made a 3" shotgun shell in 1913 your gun is most likely 2 1/2" chamber.  You could safely fire 2 3/4 but your pushing your luck going to 3".  I don't think that old gun could handle the pressure from a modern 3" load.

Got up this morning to 9 above zero and close to about 15-20 mph gusts. That put the wind chill around -9. Inside of my garage was 14 degrees as we keep one of the overhead doors open about 8 inches to let the cats in/out. Since riding is out of the question I decided to put the time to use and reloaded a couple hundred rounds for the .327 mentioned in the other part of this thread. Great winter hobby to engage in if you live in a colder climate.

patent in 1913, I don't think that's when it was made.. I'll start with shorter rounds.

Interesting and unique design that rotating bolt on the full size and compact PX4 Storm (don't see it much in a hand gun). With the sub-compact version they went with a more traditional tip up barrel design. I'm a huge fan of the external/manual decock such as is on the PX4.

You could measure the chamber length, the key is not that a 3" shell fits before firing but that it fits after firing.
If the crimp can't open all the way then the pressure tends to spike a bit.

the chamber looks smooth all the way out, I'll get my boroscope camera in there soon . tried to feel for an edge with a plastic tool but didn't feel any ridge.

Winter is for casting bullets and loading them up for the first long range buffalo gong shoot next spring with the .45-110 Sharps. Tomorrows forecast is for 30 mph winds and 8 to 10" of snow.

I just collected another from my uncle Ray. nothing special at all but I really like it.

Interesting, I noticed the markings on the barrel "410 bore or 12 mm". Not really into shotguns but had to check into it. Although it's actually a 10.4 mm bore it was referred in Europe as 12mm. Also along the way it was called a 36 gauge while it would really be about a 67 or 68 gauge.

The Sharps looks like fun! Had the opportunity to shoot a few 45-90s in both black powder and smokeless rounds through a replica Sharps. 500gr. bullets. That is damn near a cannon. No problem seeing where your shots hit. :thumb:

I have a meager collection of various stuff.

Most of my stuff is for hunting.

Browning A Bolt Hunter with BOSS in .30-06 w/ Nikon scope
Marlin 336CS in .35 (love the Marlin levers) w/ Bushnell scope
Browning BPS 12 gauge with 24" Game barrel and 31" bird barrel
WASR variant AK which actually shoots pretty well and is really tight out to 100 yards and is a ball to shoot.
1944 Mosin Nagant Carbine with bayonet. Great shooting war era bolt. Fun shooter. My club has Mosin competitions once a year and while not as accurate as the full length Mosin, it's pretty good.
CVA Muzzleloader w/ Simmons 8 point scope
Sig Sauer 1911 Target Nitron, sweet shooter.
Colt Govt, MKIV .380, which is my carry pistol (if I carry, which is practically never)
2016 V7II Stornello
2011 Griso SE
2009 Stelvio
2004 Ballabio

Hadn't even thought about the "Italian Connection" till G-J's post. One'll excuse the American interpretation of a modern Italian classic. Would that my Benelli or Zanardinies were here to photograph as well.

15 posts, but you've been here a year and a half.

In that time you should have figured out that gun threads are acceptable NGC here on Wildguzzi.

Please leave the politics out, and just skip the threads that aren't your thing.
