Sounds to me you just wanted to brag about this cool Harley deal you were going to get cheap to all of us 'cause you already know it's gonna be a good deal for you.
I was bragging.. lets see how it works out when I get it home..

Ride it for the summer then I'll fly up, visit family in Duluth, give you $800 (guzzi content) and ride it back.

that's funny, My kid goes to college up there. maybe I can give you a ride from the airport to Duluth.. (not on the Hugger) then you torture yourself riding it to home stopping every 90 miles for gas..that's if it doesn't sell for say $2400 before you get here.

The Griso seat bites my bum, so maybe I should rethink this........ Both my wife and I went to UMD.

You talking about XL.

Yeah, it's huge (think about it, more than 50k Sportsters per year for more than a decade, and at least a 1/2 million of the solidmount EVOs before that), but there's a common news feed:

http://xlforum.net/vbportal/modules/Active_Topics/index.php

Or you go by topic-specific sub-forum.

http://xlforum.net/vbportal/forums/index.php

Though anything not in a specific category (that is Sportster related) can go in general Sportster questions:

http://xlforum.net/vbportal/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=39

But the search function is your friend as everything HAS been asked already.

Brad, what's the story with the seat?  Just old and tired, or did someone rework the upholstery?

He padded and recovered a slim seat so it would be taller, I already put the original seat on. next to get rid of the buckhorn bars.

A buddy just got a tricked out Sportster with a cafe treatment. Both these bikes do look good and appeal to me. But that seat is gonna be way too low for me (I can flat foot a Honda XR650L ).

^^^^^^ I had visions of building something like that back in the day, but the only parts I could find to build something with the Harley donk were stupid chopper things. I'm over it now.. along with the NorVin.

Afaik domestic Harleys have never had that.

They don't need it since the sidestand is designed to spring up on its own if it hits something unloaded.

and I believe sidestand "locks" when weighted instead of rolling forward off sidestand.
Well thought out.

Finally figured out photbucket so here-goes.

This is a factory HD solo seat. For my part, rear part, it is very comfortable, a quick removal and all day riding around town bothers me much less than my Calvin.

The bars, I can't speak to as they were in a pile of bars I bought from a wrecker to try to get one of my Suzukis to sit right. On this I get just enough forward cant to use my back more than my abdomen to remain upright. The back vs. gut thing is the root of the fatiguing nature of the Calvin, I believe.

I dropped the mirrors below to smooth the top for throwing a Gezagear lingerie top over it for the sun. Mirrors went where the signals were and I bought a couple of HD signal stems to relocate them.

Those very fat HD grips are my favorite to date on any bike though they get tacky in the AZ sun if uncovered too long.

Screaming Eagle exhaust came with it and though a tad loud - they remind me very much of the note of my unequal length pipes on my Norton 850. One day one of the baffles took a powder. By the time I got home I had the onset of mild nausea without knowing just why. Seeing the other baffle trying to escape though partially captured by the rear pipe made it clear. All in all, it's easy enough to keep sound respectable with baffles and judicious throttle inputs.
