I was toying with the idea of wandering along west US60 (since it's just down the way from my house) for this year's road trip (in addition to the Cavalier, ND Ride-In ). This sounds perfect! Likely will take the Kawasaki. Haven't yet stretched her legs on a meaningful road trip since purchased.
What’s the name of the campground again? I wouldn’t want to be shut out there too.
Snagged a room at the Largo. FWIW, the lady there mentioned that an energy company doing work in that area may still be using 12 of their 20 rooms. If you're a non-camping woose like me, you may want act sooner than later. Quemado seemed a better choice than Magdalena for (paved) riding options.
Just got a room at the Largo motel for the rally. If you’re not camping , then make your reservation soon . Not much else around there. It fills up with workers and hunters. Good cafe. Premium gas across the street. Datil only has 86 octane. Go figure!
Seriously looking at going to this. Can't all the time off that I wanted for the National.
I'll be with Richard & Fay Thibideau.
I will probably not attend, but there's a slim chance. If I do go, it will likely be a ride out on Saturday for dinner and then overnight at the Largo, and back on Sunday. 600 miles each way, not too bad.And if I do go, it will almost certainly be on a bike that no one would ever expect to see me ride...
I will be there I'm sorry to correct you, JJ but the "Eagles Nest" is in Magdalena, not Datil. The signs are very nearly identical but the rally is at the Eagle RV Park and Campground.Pie Town has at least one cafe open and serving breakfast. The Pie-O-Neer is closed for the moment but a recent notice made it sound like their re-opening is imminent. No masking or distancing is required for the Eagle store, restaurant, or campground. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner at this time. There are motels in Magdalena and Socorro for those interested in that sort of accommodations.Unfortunately, the VLA remains closed.Looking forward to it!
