Datil is a short sprint into NM from the middle of AZ.  Gibbonsville is a nice ride into ID.

I am really only good for "one long ride" for the year...and the 1,775 mile round trip ride to Susanville, CA was good for me... :thumb: :boozing:

I'm using the Datil weekend as a warm-up - it's only 1250 miles in two days.
In September, I'm riding to Lexington to meet a bunch of friends for Saturday dinner. 4200 miles or so over 5 days, there and back.  :bike-037:

I'm in.  Got air tickets.  Got bike & camping gear.  Submitted vacation leave.  Want to go.  Last one is the most important one.  After that everything else falls into place.  🤪

Looking forward to meeting you, Tom! :thumb: :boozing:   We will be there, (camping), Aug. 19-21.

I suspect the afternoon MONSOON rains will be strong this year...(just sayin'...)

Need to pitch the tent on high ground!

I can assure you the monsoon season is in full swing...We've captured 1800 gallons of rainwater in our storage tanks since June 30th...And that's with irrigating the greenhouse AND garden

Last Sunday brought a hailstorm that turned the ground white which was followed by a downpour of rain

Bring a rain suit if you plan any afternoon riding  :thumb:

Yes, here in Vortex-Land , (aka northern AZ), we have had two (2) good Monsoon "soakers" since July 4th...and more to come!!  I have been in Datil when they have had "Flash Floods!!"

No complaints though, as the West needs the rain badly this year...Comment on the rain suits NOTED! :thumb:

The restaurant / saloon are less than 75 yards walking distance from the campground...and yes, the steaks there are sourced locally and are GREAT!! :thumb: :thumb: :boozing:

On further thought,  maybe bulgogi ribeye .  Would have to figure out what they have and working with the kitchen. :boozing: :boozing: :boozing:

I saw that on their website.   :thumb:  I'm going to ask since they cut your ribeye to order and see if they could cut the ribeye to bulgogi slices.  I'll season them for "pupus" and they can cook.

I was going over my routing in some detail when this caught my eye on the map:

And...thanks to google found this....

...and, if the article is accurate, the NM town was founded by folks from the KS town.

A must stop...and a small world!

That ribeye looks good but a steak’s not done till there’s A-1.

Actually, once you've tried HP Sauce, you will never use A-1 again!
