Thanks for that visual reference for a procedure I read about here when I struggled with installing my own centerstand springs last year. In my case, the last spring accidentally snapped into place as I was trying to lever it into position. It went "SPROING", and I closed my eyes and expected the spring to be imbedded into my eye or lost across the garage, but when I slowly opened my eyes I saw it in place.

YOUR method looks tedious (and expensive), but effective.

Good point.  A lot of WG types will wince at the expense.  Better to save the pennies and lose an eyeball....

The second 'inner' spring was kind of a pain. One end of each spring is more 'open' than the other. The more open end is easier to pull around the peg. I didn't account for that with the inner spring.  I left the more open end up where I had little room to leverage it over the peg. I'm pretty sure i'll not remember this lesson .....

I know it might be a little on the pricey side for us Guzzi owners but I use one of these for stand springs, exhaust springs etc. Remember if you're a home owner you can always borrow on the mortgage to pay for it.

I have a spring hook but I couldn't quite pull it back enough - no muscles but plenty of pennies I guess .....

I have one of those tools but have only used it for header springs.  Whenever I've had a center stand spring to deal with I'd start with removing the stand before unhooking the spring or hook the spring to the stand & bike then fit the stand into place, install mounting bolts.  For me, I have more leverage manipulating the stand than struggling with the spring tool.  The penny thing obviously works too but I've never tried it.

Yep, coins worked for me too.
I stretched the springs with my bike jack and slipped in the pennies.
Once installed, I yank out the pennies with pliers.
