NGC, taking old cb 750 chopper to North Carolina
« on: March 01, 2023, 08:13:16 AM »
Supposed to ride to the World Honda Chopper Meet in Ferguson, North Carolina in June.  290 miles from my house outside of Chattanooga Tn, one way.  I wonder if the old (1972 Honda CB 750 motor) chopper will make it?   AND BACK!   lol.

I would work on it ahead of time not limp it there. Maybe have your truck follow you for a safety.

Can you do ten 30 mile rides without breaking down?  If yes, then go for it!  If no, then prepare for it.  Sounds like an adventure!

Okay, then you have to do it with only a bed roll strapped to the forks.  Easy Rider style!

You have a rear suspension on that or only the rear tire at 15lbs air pressure?  BTDT.

It has very little rear suspension but some.  I run 36 psi in rear and 32 in front.

Aren’t you supposed to have an old lady driving a support vehicle? Make sure it has the right bumper stickers.

Its funny what age does. Im looking at that hardtail frame [well mostly hardtail] and then think of sleeping on the ground with just a bedroll, and I fear the ground and bedroll MUCH more!!

Bike looks cool, and looks like you got your trip planned out in chunks to give the bike and yourself plenty of time to get there.

Well today i had a short on the chopper ignition.  I finally found the broken, grounded out wire which was causing main fuse to blow.  Fixed that, changed the oil filter, oil etc and checked charging voltage as it was charging a little low because the old cb 750s charging systemes werent the best but i bought a solid state voltage regulator which is adjustable so it should be good to go now.  Always something.  lol.  Think Il buy one of those 12 volt battery booster packs for the road.  Probably overkill because it seems to be charging correctly but i could use one for emergencies i guess.  I see them on Amazon for like $100.
