Swamp scooters revitalized
« on: October 05, 2015, 07:54:21 PM »
What if we called this a bring your own everything rally? Charlie Brackett and I have been talking about meeting at the campground at the same time on the same weekend.Charlie trailers down from Mass. And would bring his cooking gear with him and I will trailer down with ez ups and a generator. We all do our own thing during the day anyway. We could meet back at the campground for a pitch in supper in the evening and hangout around the fire.We used to call these inpromtu gatherings a gaggle.Let's have a Gaggle in Lafeyette.

I would still like to visit the area about the same time. I usually trailer anyway so Ill bring some utensils for cooking. I'll attempt a chix/saus gumbo and bring that down and probably have my clam sauce and pasta as a good standby.  I don't think I can every tire of that area. I would just like to have an idea of how many people might attend. If there is only a few of us I just assume go to some of the local restaurants. On the other hand to many will pose another set of problems.

Come on guys, all of you who were complaining about the Swamp Rally being cancelled here's a change to do it again and maybe next year we can get more organized and have a full rally back down there. Maybe Frank Smith or Mark our Animal Chiropractor buddy in Tennessee can get away. How about you Zoom Zoom?

If it's going to happen please post the dates and location. I'll be passing thru the area in a couple of weeks. Could be 3 of us stopping by.
Thanks, Bill

Sorry
Saw it was cancelled and locked in other plans. Wasn't joking about wanting to revisit my old Cajungrounds home and will watch for it next year...

Whereabouts is this campground?

If timing permits, I might just rouler from Houston again to Lafayette if I can get away in early November.  I know Tom was also thinking about it...we'd have to find the scenic route from H-town to Louisiana and avoid I-10 at all costs.

I was having a *really* good time roaring around on the Aero Lario today, realized I wasn't done riding yet,  and thought about this. Dorcia hasn't been in Cajun country yet, and (sadly) the window is getting smaller. Thinking about it.. I could do some of the cooking to take the load off Charlie..maybe.
So. Date? Whereabouts?

As much as I really would like to get down that way some time, it won't be this year. Kentucky was it for my extended travels.

I could be persuaded to come and pitch in on needed supplies. Not a bad ride from Abalama.

Already have the time scheduled to be off those days.

Paul,

Current situation as of  last Sunday.  Nothing has materialized.
Previous campground Bayou Wilderness Park wants large deposit to hold campground.  Will not let folks pay at the door.  It is primarily a RV resort and geared toward that.  We used to tent camp in a large field adjacent to the RV pads.

Folks from Swamp Scooters committee are exploring other venues and actually met last weekend but nothing has been decided at this time.  I'll contact the LA bunch in a couple of weeks and post if any firm decisions are made.

Thanks Dave...sounds good.  Can always be a last minute decision to head over...just a short hop unless we decide to detour via Bolivar Peninsula for fun!
