Need new motor and transmission
« on: September 23, 2021, 10:26:24 PM »
Hi

I'm looking for a good used 1100 motor/clutch/gearbox unit, preferably 1100, low milage.
Searching Ebay, I found a few motors and other parts from "pinwall_cycle_parts".
I sent them a message, but no answer yet.
I live in Israel, and I prefer buying from the USA, prices are better than Europe.
Are any other vendors that have used guzzi parts?

Thanks,
Ariel

Welcome to the forum Ariel, i'm sure you will get lots of suggestions soon.
It might be cheaper to buy a complete bike that way you would have a better idea of the milage.

If I lived that far away I wouldn't deal with pinwheel. They don't seem to know much about which Guzzi they have and are not very good at comunicating.

I agree. For instance they separate the rear drive and pinion assembly and try to sell them separately. I contacted them and told them they were making both worthless as they need to stay together. I asked if they would then check the serial numbers on the crown wheel and pinion so I could buy a matching set. They couldn’t comprehend that and continued to make those parts junk and trying to sell them to the unaware.

You should specify exactly which 1100/transmission combo you are looking for. 1100/5-speed, 1100/6-speed?

The engine is fine, some leaks, some noise from the valve gear, but nothing horrible.
My bike is a 1983 G5 with 1994 1000 engine (digiplex).
The gearbox and clutch are the main issue, both are worn.
I want to replace both, and upgrade the engine.

Maybe, but the problem is that I can't import to Israel a whole bike, unless is 30 years old or older, due to Import regulations (or brand new).
