The Left side and Right side of a motorcycle.
« on: October 02, 2017, 04:22:51 PM »
So, I'm wondering if I need a left side bolt, does that mean left side as I sit in the seat looking forward, or left as if I'm in front of the bike looking forwards?

I think it’s like a dog , or same as a human, your right or left. So the clutch is on the left and front brake on the right. A correction is welcome as I had the same question the other day.

No. Oh, and the wheels spin the other way. The pistons are reversed, clutch and brake are reversed, the bike moves up and down on the suspension instead of the wheels, the tacho starts at the top and moves counter clockwise, kangaroos jump and down the streets all day, the oceans are infested with white pointers, and every living thing can, and will, kill you.

I always do the old English thing of "near side" and "off side".

That started in the days of oxcarts, went through horse-and-buggies, early cars, and still works for modern cars today.

That way, you don't have to ask "Is it as I LOOK at the bike or as I RIDE the bike ... ?"

Just keep the right side up, rubber side down

After reading this thread, that's impossible.

So do the Ozzies, Kiwis and other lefthand-riders release the throttle when they greet other bikers while riding?  Or do they use their left hand?  Or do they just ignore other riders and keep both hands on the handle bars?

You forgot to mention Beetle that we have 5 (or 6) reverses and no forwards.

Nah, they were all positive earth back in the day.  There was a logical reason for positive earth, I think it had to do with corrosion.  Obviously, it was bullshit, but it made sense to me at the time.

You do realize Dusty, that the electrons flow from negative to positive?

That's the combustion chamber of the turbo shaft. It is supposed to be on fire. You just don't usually see it but the case and fairing fell off.

I've heard they just drop a foot off the right/starboard/off side peg and wave with their leg.
The best part of riding a motorcycle is to tilt the horizon and to lift the front coming out of a corner and to drift the back end powering thru loose dirt and to catch a little air topping a hill and... yeah it's all good!
