I'm Back.....
« on: September 19, 2022, 12:18:13 PM »

  Recently sold my Very heavy, Very Long and Comfy 1000 lb. touring bike.  Getting long in the tooth,  age and mileage wise,  so just to keep my passion alive after 50 years of riding
 non-stop I am open to something smaller and lighter in the WA state area.  Something naked that I can tinker with under 500 lbs.

Just returned from trip to Italy and France and missed the Guzzi Factory celebration.... Ugh.

  Should have stipulated something of a European brand.  Thinking Guzzi, Royal Enfield or Triumph of classic designs.

You're asking a Guzzi board what to buy, and you want a Euro brand?

I't's simple, buy a Guzzi, it's the only one of the three that actually makes their bikes in Europe.

I think you already know the answer:

* V7
* Duc Scrambler
* Bonnie T100/T120

I'm not convinced on RE yet personally.

And I hate chains, so that list gets even shorter for me.

I'll add a V9 if you dig the ergos. I actually really like them

I guess I could also add a R9T.

I think a newer BMW R1200R would be great. Claimed 508 pound weight and 125hp.  And no chain for kevm to adjust. Also a Ducati Scrambler might be worth a look.

If I was looking for a non-guzzi I would get a Triumph Speed Twin

Thats all I got.  To me, sounds like a Guzzi V9 or a V7 is what you are looking for

Not all Triumphs are made outside England. When my Audace got too heavy I got a T120 Bonneville. Love the bike hate the chain, but all bikes have tradeoffs. I also have a V7lll Special. Great bike.

Royal Enfields are made in India, they do have R&D in England. I had a Himalayan, 22 hp. Really liked it but I want no more than two bikes at this stage. Paul

   I should have been more clear but Jet lag is still affecting me.  After owning an 07 RED Norge I am looking for another Guzzi, whether that be a naked or even another Norge, either a 2 valve well taken care of, or preferably, I think a 2015-2016 upgraded model!!  Something on the smaller side for space also.

   This will be my last MC so having parts available and being able to do all the work on it myself is preferable.

Wait, WHAT?

Yup, there was no way I was gonna get that from this post:

To be clear even a Breva 1100 was 509# dry and about 562# wet.

So I don't think most people here were thinking big blocks, even CARCs.

Hi Kev,  Yea I get that but I am atypical for my age strength wise as my Doc says and after a 9+ft long  1000 lb Victory Cross Country Tour a mere 500+ lbs is A LOT less to move about. Just about anything weighs 470+ lbs it seems and is 7 ft long.  I started with looking at 400-650 cc Single and worked up from there -  in reality.

I was going to suggest one of the newer smallblocks. Not particularly powerful but fun to ride.

I bought my 2003 Breva new, still have it and because I am about to nudge 74, realistically,it will be my last.  Easy to maintain.

To be clear I was just commenting that you said under 500# and CARCs are not. As for actually under 500#, three of the four bikes in my garage are, two of them by almost 100#.
