I have a couple of aluminum water bottles I fill up at home. I try to avoid paying for water and making more plastic trash.
For longer rides, I carry a 40 oz Hydroflask. On a full-day ride, especially when temps approach 110°, I will add a few sugar-free sports drinks. I take advantage of free refills on ice water at every stop. I've been caught by borderline mid-grade dehydration when riding home to Phoenix from a higher-elevation. It was only a hundred where we spent the day, but when we returned to the Phoenix metro area, the temps had reached about 117°. Once you add in the heat from vehicles and tarmac, it's closer to 125°. We pulled into a local market, bought a few sports drinks, and kept the staff company for over an hour while we rehydrated and cooled off. It was a miserable experience that I never wish to repeat!
Tap. In a Sigg bottle.
Guzzi Gal, was that on an air cooled engine bike?Scott
