We need details Inditx.  How does it sound on the pipe?  Comfortable? I’ll bet it brings back memories of 80s UJMs. The 1100 is on my list of interesting and great looking bikes to watch for on the secondary market, like the SV650, Harley XR1200, KTM 500EXCF, FJ1200, FTR1200, early Concours, etc.  Bikes I may never buy but like to think about.

Congratulations.  These are fine bikes.  Make sure to join the CB1100forum.com if you haven't already.  Its a good forum.

Leave it to Honda to absolutely blow it out of the park with their retro bike.  The story behind the development of this bike is pretty amazing.  With the hoards of riders that cut their teeth on CB 4 cylinders back in the day I have no idea why it was a sales flop.  It should have been success, just as big or bigger than the Triumph Bonneville modern classics.

It is one of the most beautiful modern retro bikes in my opinion.  Especially if you dreamed about owning a CB 4 back in the 70s.

Nice looking bike for sure. Brings back memories of a young flyboy in the Air Force and his CB650 Custom that he rode the wheels off of before getting shipped overseas. Looks like they indeed kept many of the retro lines.

The CBs of old were definitely fine machines and I’d bet the newer ones are also.
Here’s a few 81/82s we used for years and hundreds of thousands of combined trouble free mileage.

I think it was a sales flop for a couple of reasons.  While I've never ridden one, every review I read said the bike was typically Honda bland.  It didn't offer any more performance than the original some 40+ years earlier.  Of course, these reviews are written by riders that think any motorcycle with less than 100 hp isn't worth owning.  They certainly did the bike no favors.  Honda always seems to mess things up with their pricing.  Start out outrageously high, then dealers are forced to cut prices by hundreds and hundreds of dollars to try and move old stock.  Same thing happened with their VFR1200.  It's a gorgeous bike.  If Honda would have brought the RS version into the states, I'd have been reaching for my checkbook.

I saw the first one when I dropped into a dealer I don't like on a rainy day. I though it looked great and he was very excited at the potential of that model. That was his first new CB more were on order the dealers were hyped everyone was expecting gang buster sales. But the sales never materialized, I don't think they advertised the bike and Honda did not create an accessory line. It was more expensive than a New Bonnie or the other retro bikes and it kind of looked to "Modern"
Triumph copied the HD Sportster business' model Sell the bike at a reasonable price, profit from the accessories both Factory and after market. I don't believe they looked at the type of rider they wanted to market too. The old CB you bought the bike and did your own accessories. They needed to have factory luggage windshield, custom exhaust ready to sell with the machine.
Don't get me wrong it's a great bike push the button and ride across the country. But today that is not uncommon.

It was the most 80's looking of the retros, and I liked it.

A chilly 20 mile ride, glad it’s got heated grips, and I am well pleased.
Handles great, shifts like butter and stops really well.
Sounds good but a little throatier and lighter muffler would do well.
Put my rack on and fitted my MG Hepco top box. Big but does the job.
Everything just works and I actually adjusted the preload on front and back suspenders!

Could it use a 6th gear? Perhaps but would depend on how it was geared.
Not fast but not slow and is just fun to ride.

Will fit a shield next.
Next up, 2 up!

More than I could have bought it for new in ‘14. LOL!  Came close but found my first Moto Guzzi while considering the purchase. I found the handling to be somewhat heavy instead of nimble and it wasn’t a deluxe.

Congratulations inditx I hope you enjoy the CB1100 as much as I do. I picked up my 2014 January this year, replaced the original tires and added a OEM rear rack, quick release NC shield, and Corbin seat that I had them modify the shape slightly. I love riding this bike so much I just ordered a set of soft panniers which include removable stays and signal relocation kit.
