starter struggling
« on: August 01, 2022, 09:44:08 AM »
so i go to get on my bike. it is nuetral. turn on the key and push the starter button. It kicks over then stops. struggles a bit the second time i press it. then may do nothing the third time. it will start. I did do the evap plug off and i have changed my bars around. all connections and wires are intact and there is nothing snagged or binded like clutch or throttle. have not checked the battery voltage but seems new. I have left the key in it a couple times on chilling. and i know my bad. is this cause for concern? normal guzzi stuff idk???

Year/Model?  Age of battery?

Sounds like weak battery. First thing is to fully charge battery, and if necessary load test.

If it's not the battery, next look for loose or corroded connections (especially battery cables, starter cable, ground strap).

If it's not the battery or main cables, look at switches, relays etc.

But this sounds like you drained your battery or have a bad battery.

when I bought my V7III Special it was having trouble holding a charge
Eventually I figured out the stator was bad and had it replaced under warrantee.
The first thing to do is measure Voltage, a good battery should be 12+ and be able to hold at least 9V while cranking the motor over.
A battery Voltmeter is worth its weight in gold, these ones are dual display you only need a single
