Guys; There are ingredients OTHER than ZDDP that are used to protect your tappets in modern oils, and they have been there for years! ZDDP was simply the cheapest ingredient found to work for protecting metals in older oils. The motor oil industry has moved on and found new ways to protect your engine's metal to metal contact points. In fact the newer additives replacing ZDDP work even better at protecting your engine when cold as well as when hot. You can easily use the latest specification Redline oil in engines with flat tappets. You do not need, or even want, ZDDP in your modern Redline oil. The science has moved on from ZDDP as an additive and you no longer need it.
Anyway,"Your Amazon.com order of 2x "Red Line Oil 11704..." has shipped!", and I will get it at weeks end.
Which is exactly why SG is still specified. How are you qualified to make these statements? I'm only asking because after a zillion oil threads, they still read like -- well -- a crock. It's what I'd expect the SLICK-50 shill to argue -- a lot of meaningless buzz words and no content. The counterman at the local Car Quest had much the same attitude -- "Oil is oil. Ain't gonna order anything fancy or special when I gots a shelf full of perfectly good 0w-30 right over there. This modern shit works on everything." I can see Car Quest's soaped-over windows from my house.
But, will it be ONE quart, or SIX quarts as stated? That is the question.

You'll notice the 10-60 isn't included..
The Amazon webpage Product Description for the oil clearly states "highest degree of protection and cleanliness for your automotive, motorcycle, or marine engine". If Amazon is using Redline's words to describe the product or someone at Amazon wrote the product description AND the product is incorrectly described, i.e "We don't make a motorcycle oil" , then I will return it for a refund. Amazon has never refused to accept a return on any item I've ever ordered that didn't satisfy my expectations.
You don't need motorcycle specific oil for a Moto Guzzi. By definition, motorcycle oil contains an additive package designed for engines which share oil with the gearbox and clutch. The Moto Guzzi does not share oil with the gearbox or clutch and therefore has no problem using car oil. In fact, car oil might actually work a little better than motorcycle oil.
yes. the 2 cases I ordered at $17.05 have shipped via UPSexpected delivery on 5/5/16i am concerned that the shipping weight is only 5 pounds: seems light for 12 qts of oil.is it only 2 qts????
Ah..the plot thickens!:-)I was on the web site looking at gear oil and saw the tech page for oil?? should have known better to put it here. But that begs a question...why drop the ZDDP content for the 10W60???
