Thanks folks! It's my 7 year old/newly refurbished Zumo 450. Much simpler than newer offerings (for me).

It's an interesting set-up.

If I get one I think I'd like to see if there's a way I could use the detachable series for a luggage rack/topcase, but I already know that would mean a change to the turn signals/mounting. Or perhaps I could figure out a way to add the C-bow luggage system.

I also think I might look for frame sliders instead of crash bars (which would be a first for me on a Harley) though I admit the bars you're using are nicer and more compact than the ones on my current XLr.

Can't wait to hear how you enjoy it.

I'm glad they brought the Roadster back, I've had 4 different 1200R and I have an orange and white one now. I like the new one in Red. I also have an Orange California Stone, lol

I would have liked detachables also, although I'm happy with what I have. This image I snagged from the xlforum and I will probably use this method to modify the turn signals for mounting my trailer hitch. Might work for detachables. In hindsight I think I would have liked the adjustable highway bars better than the 'mustache bar' as I am fully extended to reach the footrests...

Someone cut the turn signal mounts on a CX already to expose that rear fender/strut mounting hole then?

Interesting, I'd assumed the signals were using that hole.

They do use that hole along with another and they drop in the groove of the frame rail to keep them positioned using the other bolt if that portion of the signal is removed. At least that's how I see it working.

So although they're using that hole there's enough stability in the other portion of the mount.

Hmmm, I wonder if it would be possible to just slot the turn signal mount enough to still use that hole, but incorporate the detachable docking hardware in it. Hmmmmmmmmm.

Most of the changes/additions came out of the HD accessory catalog: reach seat, rigid uprights, sissy bar, back rest, luggage rack, gps mount, mustache crash bar, sport windshield, day bag, overnight bag, euro tail light and license plate holder, and flush gas cap. From other sources: 1-1/2" risers, heat demons heated grips, Fenda Extenda, Denali air horn with Sportster mount and Fuzeblock FZ1. ABS from the factory. I actually spent more on accessories/changes on my Norge. What I've spent on my 27 motorcycles I could probably retire...oh well...no regrets as long as I can ride :bike-037: ! Over 1/4 million miles on the road, 4 seasons of motocross, 4 seasons of trials and countless (literally) trail miles since I was 11 :thumb:.

I have an upholstery lady working on his platform on the tank incorporating his sheepskin as I write this. She came over to get things started 2weeks ago Wednesday. Hopefully she will come through with a workable outcome, I have confidence in her... Thanks for asking! I don't want to leave him home! It took me 4-1/2 years to get the Norge trailer hitch figured out, and it turned out (from my view) absolutely spectacular. After a season towing, fuel mileage didn't change, and the rear tire I changed this winter had just shy of 10,000 miles on it! I will have the hitch done on the Roadster sometime this summer. The Norge is available with or without the hitch and with or without gobs of accessories. Stay tuned...

Meh, I don't think I've ever owned a bike without luggage. Something about actually using my bikes day in and day out for more than just a run to the bar.

That said, Jenn's got no luggage on the Duc, just a setup so she can strap a tail-bag to it when she needs (i.e. when we're touring or if she actually rides without me to carry her shyte lol).

Oh I have saddlebags, just not the capacity as those.
If I'm going camping or long distance, I can always strap one of my backpacks if needed.
All my camping gear is high quality, compact. I don't bring a TV or computer

Well, I can strip the bags of in about 30 seconds, maybe a minute if I'm feeling lazy.

But I rarely remove the two side bags because they're just plain useful.

The tour case allows me to throw in a GI bag and hit the dojo, or carry a case of beer in bottles with ice, or hit the grocery store and come out with 2-3 good side bags (plus I can fit 2 more in the side cases). Hell I can fill it fire wood too.

When I camp I can actually fit a bedroll and small tent in the case, or I can reserve the case for gear and strap them to the seat.

I like options.

I wear my backpack, after I get off the bike, don't carry it. Oh, and no beer for me

Beer & bikes go together, IMHO.  :thumb:   Yeah, I won't own a bike/scooter if it can't carry stuff too.  1 time I put beer bottles in a top case...........will never do that again!   I have some Rev Pack soft insulated saddle bags that work great for carrying beer/ice.  When the ice melts the water just drips out the fabric.  :thumb:   No sloshing about.  But nowadays I carry red wine in a box in my top case.  Drink it warm or w/ice if it's available.  That way I'm good to go when I stop for the night.

I made that mistake once or twice... well, not putting it in there, that's fine, especially if it's a whole case cause it doesn't move around. But say only putting a 6-pack in and then going for some spirited riding, only to find out they didn't stay still OR sealed.  :embarrassed:  :embarassed:
