Easy-peasy? NO!
« on: March 26, 2024, 10:01:49 AM »
A whole heckuva lotta work to get the one red tail piece off an '06 Moto Guzzi Breva V1100. take off rack, take off sub-rack, unscrew 8 other parts to get to two hidden screws, 2 dozen fasteners in all, 4 different allen wrenches, and finally it comes off!

The rear fender on the V9 Roamer has also been fastened in a most unusal - and time-consuming - manner. Since I first began wrenching 45 years ago, I have been convinced the designers and constructors never talk to mechanics and owners.

Bummer, I'll be doing the same shortly with my '06.  Good to know what's ahead, though...

Easy Peasy; Yes

Time consuming, unnecessarily complicated, tedious, overly cumbersome, poorly engineered; Yes

If you ever get to meet a Piaggio 'design engineer' who works on the Moto Guzzi line be sure to kick him sharply in both shins. Maybe pants him as well so he can be thoroughly embarrassed. When he asks why, just tell him:

"that's for every Moto Guzzi owner and technician for decades of a few innovative ideas combined with widespread poor execution."

Grandpaul, yes, although it may be a little while as I have been off bikes for a long time and am just now getting up to speed (literally) again.  My 06 has been sitting for some time before I bought it a month ago so now I am riding it only in my neighborhood as I replace fluids, tires, etc.

The welder did a nice job on the rear brake pedal / footpeg / saddlebag bracket that was busted in 2 places. Only $75, very fair; 1/2 price of a replacement part.

Brake pedal stop area

Saddlebag mount area

A bit of Rust-O-Leum rattle can silver, and we're all set!
