wheel size for EV
« on: September 07, 2015, 07:40:29 PM »
I have a 2004 1100 EV with stock wheels.  The chrome has peeled off in many areas making an otherwise very clean bike look shabby.  I have aquired a set of wheels from a 98 EV which are alloy which was not chromed.  The 2004 rims are wider ( ie 4inch vs 3  1/2 inch rear) Would theses be interchangeable?  Is the spacing between the swing arm and front forks be the same.  I would of course have to change tire size (150 to 140 on rear) Any other issues.  I know it would slightly change speedo and gearing and may affect center stand use.  Thanks

can you get the swing arm/ds from the '98?  would make it a simple swap I think but the later bike has a wider s/a with different drive shaft.

It's the hub diameter not rim diameter that matters for spacers, and I can't answer the interchange question directly.  FG is referring to the dog-bone drive shaft/bent swing arm design for the 4" rim, which should not be an issue.  If you decide to do the swap, I might be interested in the shabby ones.
