In the latest TV commercial for Gillette Venus razors for women...a beautiful chrome tanked V7 featured prominently!

Lovely long legged lady in a pair of shorts walks towards the bike, then rides off on it...nope, she's not ATGATT...

I guess Guzzi is trying to expand the appeal of the V7 to women now as well, and it might be working, saw a young hipster chick riding a black V7 thru downtown Houston the other day!

When the 750 Breva came out it was claimed to be a woman's bike too.  Doesn't bother me in the least.  No one has ever accused me of being a wuss when riding it.

Yes, the V7 is a woman's bike.  You'd be amazed at the number of women I have met who own a V7.  Well, maybe just interested.  Like, maybe 4.  With that said we had an instant bond and I really enjoyed talking about the small block bike with these women.  As a matter of fact, while at Bike Week in Daytona I cranked up my bike to ride out of a parking spot and a young woman called out to me.  I turned and she was on a V7 about 15 feet away.  She was surprised to hear "her" bike start when she had yet to put the key in the ignition...she had heard mine.  Later that week I met two other female V7 owners.  I thought "Heck, this is better than having a puppy on a leash."

I've seen that ad a few times over the past couple weeks.

Good job by PGA on getting the bike into the ad and in front of millions of viewers!   :thumb:

In our little motorcycle group, we have a lot of women that ride. The vast majority of them are on Harleys. Only one or two are Sportsters. I guess that would make all Harleys girlie bikes?

But then we have a bunch that ride Japanese bikes, so I guess Japanese bikes are girlie bikes too?

I'm the only one that rides a Guzzi, so I guess that Guzzi's are manly bikes?

Now I am confused.

I would say that the V7 is definitely more appealing to women. It's not heavy, it's not super powerful and the seat height is low. All of these things are deciding factors in women wanting a bike, at least that I've heard come out.

Women aren't interested in huge powerful monster bikes as a general rule. They don't care about horsepower.

I hope this does not appear sexist but all small block Guzzi's are womens bikes in the sence they are bikes that men who ride motorcycles would choose for their women to ride. This seems to be true regardless of whether the man rides a Guzzi or not.

Yes you can have one of those dear (and I won't look like a total &@*# if I ever have to ride it)

Got to get her away from that Honda Shadow Spirit she was after, It's bad enough having a Suzuki Vitara on the drive.

I really need a smaller less commited riding position bike for pottering around town but she'll be really angree if I go buy another bike. I know I'll buy a small Guzzi and pretend I bought it for her.

That Triumph 1200 America does look nice but it's bigger than my bike and people might start asking who wears the trousers in this relationship?

Sex sells....ever see a Rigid Tool calender?  Just because the fine young thang is holding a 36" Pipe Wrench doesn't make it a 'Woman's Pipe Wrench'...think a Miata is a 'chick car'? Don't say that in front of Spec B race car drivers!

Silly thread...

Placing the Guzzi V7 in the Gillette ad was probably a result of a hipster at the advertising firm wanting to add some Italian style to the scene being portrayed.  The ad isn't about motorcycling, or women motorcyclists.  And, the Guzzi in it is just an objet d'art.

They never really show the bike well, or up close.  So maybe some people who are motorcyclists will see it and wonder enough about it to search it up and discover Guzzis.

I am amazed that there is not a great revolt from women on this thread. I know a few women that can seriously thrash me through the twisties and I am no slouch.  I also know a 5'6" 103 pound lady that rides a fitted out superglide and has no problem with the weight.  Granted she might need help picking it up but I prolly would too.

The ad is hardly offensive at all, it's very tastefully done, there's nothing derisive or condescending in the ad whatsoever.

I haven't been able to find a youtube version of it, just saw it this morning on the TV.

It's a very nice V7, you see the lady walk towards it, then it cuts away to her riding away on it.

Just an interesting choice, hence the question, if Gillette or Guzzi think that this is the market to showcase a V7...nothing further.

Neither this thread or the ad is in anyway slanted negatively towards women...

This coincides with California 1400's that appear in the new Dos Equis ad with the most interesting man in the world. Seems Madison Avenue is on a Guzzi kick?
