Why did all the "cool" movies between '68 and '72 have such downer endings?

It was a pretty grim time in our history -- assassinations, tragic pointless war costing 58,000 American lives, riots, draft protests. Cultural polarization made today's politics look friendly. Upbeat movies felt unrealistic. Most of the folks in my generation identified with anti-heroes.

Now there was a weird piece of movie making , Terry Kath , Walt Parazaider , Lee Loughnane , and Peter Cetera from Chicago all playing , well , whatever those guys were supposed to be , Robert Blake playing himself , and Nick Nolte before he was Nick Nolte . The ending was sorta borrowed from Easyrider , and the middle was just confusing

Ah, the old days. Time was if somebody told me they were going to the dealer tomorrow, I would have given them a ten spot and asked them to get some for me too.
That's the combustion chamber of the turbo shaft. It is supposed to be on fire. You just don't usually see it but the case and fairing fell off.

4 years and less than 8,000 miles is pathetic. Back when I was an employee, I was able to scrape around 30K miles per year due to vacation times, 10 rallies a year, etc.  Now that I'm an employer, I forget what vacation time and rallies even feel like. Someone tell me again how good retirement is please

Ok, made it home.  With the MGX. #20 as a matter of fact. The honeymoon is off to a rocky start, but I see light at the end of this tunnel due to a great dealer.

I showed up in Tulsa at 9:30 AM today.  They were putting the finishing touches on the MGX they designated for me.  It appears they sent both of these bikes and both were missing some things here and there so they put one together using the other.  Beats me why they'd do that, but I suspect the Sturgis thing had a little to do with it.

Anyways, I go to the bank to get the money and when I get back, they are switching everything around.  Turns out the one they had for me had turn signal problems.  So, they switch everything around to the other one and test it all out.  By the time all this takes place is about 3PM and those guys were doing everything they could for me to get me outta there.

I hit the road and make it about 20 miles or so when I realize the turn signals aren't working on this one now...WTH?  Turn around and head back to the dealer and they look over everything again, even call Guzzi HQ to no avail.  The dealer is thinking it's something in the switch.  Paul says if you can live without turn signals until we get the fix, I'll personally come to your house and fix it.  I agreed to that.  I rode a 73 Eldo for many years without turn signals, so no big deal to me.

I hit the road again and it's now around 4.  Lets just say, I freaking love this motorcycle.  I'm toodling along at the speed limit of 65 or so and can still hear the stereo...somewhat.  Just enough to be able to understand what song is playing.  I can hear it plain as day up to 55.  Here are some additional thoughts I have so far with just at 150 miles on it.

The windshield is 40%.  It's good up to around 55, then you get a lot more blast.  I'll definitely be getting the XL option.
The throttle is STIFF.  I see why they put cruise on it.  It's a booger. That is one tight spring in there. I suspect it'll break in better.
The seat...didn't really think about it so it must be ok.
The seating position is nice.  But at speeds of 75+, an updraft was pulling my leather jacket up.  When I stopped to put on my tourmaster 1 piece, it was very nice.  Should have started out like that.
I love the adjustable clutch and brake levers.  I set it to the shortest throw.
Veloce is my favorite mode.  I like how you can switch modes on the run as long as cruise is on.
The cruise control is cool.  I don't care about resume.  It works good for me.
The toggle is a PITA for the radio.  Too sensitive.  Maybe has something to do with the switch and turn signal problem too since they share the same housing?
It seems to handle good. I wasn't able to push it too much since the roads were a little wet.  But I will.

The bad:
Poor prep by Piaggio from what I can tell.
I lugged it by accident in Tontitown and the engine light came on.  I'll try a battery cable reset to see if it goes away.
The turn signal problem. I hope it's isolated.

That's all I have for as little time as I have in the saddle.  Stay tuned....

Since most of your return trip was in Oklahoma , the lack of turn signals was for certain not a problem

Update. The battery cable pull fixed the engine light.  All's well there.

Here's a photo I snapped when I stopped to put on my rain suit.

Here it is when I got home.

i have to admit i was the first bitching and complaining about the look of this bike when first came out.... but after seeing it in person in Milan a couple of weeks ago, i changed my mind.
pics does not do justice , it need to be seen in person.
