Title: That's not right?
Post by: GuzziNZ on May 19, 2022, 01:17:06 PM
Just fitted a Newfren clutch kit to my 850T and the push rod mushroom seems to be sitting to far down the bore.
Any ideas why.

Thats because the Stein Dinse clutch friction plates are slightly thicker, meaning the pressure cup that the push rod goes into sit slightly further towards the front of the gearbox.

The simple solution is usually a ball bearing (cant remember the size) into the pushrod plunger or stack up extra shims/bearings on the throw-out bearing

The Newfren clutch plates seem to made just a bit thicker than original, same as the SD-TEC ones. Usually, an extra throw-out bearing thrust washer will add enough length. It helps a little if you use the dual o-ring outer body as well, it has the added benefit of sealing the throw-out bore better.

Thanks thought that maybe the issue.
Might make a hardened puck to go inside the mushroom tube to space pushrod.
