Shock absorber length

John A:
How short can I go with shocks on an ‘02 Stone? I’ve already raised the forks and run low profile tires so I was thinking of putting shorter shocks on my wife’s bike. I have shocks from a Bassa on it now but she wants it lower yet. I think the center stand is one of the first things to scrape. It doesn’t now but I have to roll it up on a board to put it on the center stand. Thanks

I went with 9" shocks on the Breva 750 (and XS750) in an attempt to get it low enough for my wife. No Mas. I have an extra set (well 2) if you want them.

Thanks, I think that might be a little too short. If I remember right the originals are about 13.5”. I was thinking maybe around 11 or 12 . I imagine the center stand deployment lever is the first thing that would scrape but it’s been so long since I’ve messed with shocks that I don’t remember what all is affected. I’m not worried too much about drive line angle but I am concerned about loss of traction if something won’t let it lean over in a tight corner. What do the nine inchers do ? It would be great if they would work.

On both bikes, I had no issues with dragging pegs, the CS required rolling on a 2x6 but no KS engagement I recall. Neither are knee draggers and it was for my wife, and I never rode the B750 with the short shocks, the bike never made it past her throwing a leg after I lowered it. I had them on XS for a year or two back in the early 2000's, made it a fun little bike. I almost left them on. I have to measure them again. I'll be down at the house this weekend to get exact measurements.

John, On my Cal2 I have 12" shocks, just like the early Tonti's. The 1st set I put on here came off the LM3 that I had on my SP1. I haven't bottomed out yet, not even w/sidecar on it
