V7 III factory fork oil viscosity?
« on: November 29, 2021, 06:31:43 PM »
Does anyone know what they use in the forks from the factory? The service manual seems like it just gives a range, but that's not very helpful when I'm looking for a starting point for something heavier. I have .90kg/mm springs from RaceTech (no emulators), and I'm looking for better damping than the factory oil is giving me. I'm about 250 lbs without gear and I ride year-round in New England, and see a lot of rough/patched/damaged pavement.

I'm 260#, used the same springs and went with Racetech recommendations other than maybe the oil level. I can't remember what they speced out for level. Using the stock spacers I had 15mm preload, 130mm oil level and used 15wt oil. That mod paired with Ktech Razer rear shocks made for a much improved ride.

I used 15 but might try 10. Either should be fine.

Trouble is, one manufacturers viscosity is not equal to anothers.
You have to go by CentiStokes grade; check out the list here:
