1200 norge 2v into an old tonti frame?
« on: May 23, 2015, 10:22:32 PM »
What are the complications I can anticipate plugging a ~'06 -07-ish 1200 2-valve Norge engine into a '76 Convert frame?

Nevermind the Convert-specific stuff.  I'm worried about bellhousing, intake*, exhaust, sump, timing cover, etc.

*I'm planning to do fuel injection ala Jackal, so intake and exhaust relative to 1100cc information would be productive.   :)

Locating the alternator would be the biggest issue.

Yup, the High-mount alt is the killer. There are people making conversion adapters for puting a Ducati alt on the front of the later cranks and then the timing chest can be swapped.

No other real reason I can think of why you couldn't swap it out but why stop there? Stick an 8V in there and really help it!  ~;

with some work you can put the old style cover on it. The crank is different, what others have done is an ducati alternator on front.  The guy at guzziladen sells it as conversion kit.
The clutch side is the same, and intake is not diffeent from old bikes. If you use the Jackal injection with tb and ecu thats fine and easy fit if you have the loom from it.

Sot the high mount alternator doesn't fit the tonti frame?   :(

I don't do german so well.  What is the cost of the conversion kit?

I come up with $766 plus $250 for if you can not supply the cover and generator rotor

If you know someone with Lathe and a mill it can be cheaper.
