* Install an old shock on one side temporarily.
* Make a strut from flat stock drilled at both ends
* Park under a step ladder and use ratcheting straps to support top rear of frame

There are lots of cheap solutions.

When God made slotted steel angle iron, it was specifically for this purpose.

Thanks Kev ,no old shock but flat stock sounds like a solution.

Thanks Dirk,so I can just ease the rear end down on the tire and leave it until I get the shocks back?Dont understand what good a center stand or scissor jack would do.

One of my Ikons leaks but I am having both rebuilt by the factory in PA.The bike doesn’t have a center stand and if I remove both shocks do I need to worry about the rear end somehow collapsing?Should I make some kind of support to install until I get the shocks back?

Let go of some cash and get a centerstand or a cheap Amazon scissor jack support.

Rear shocks hold the rear of the bike up. Removing one shock, the other shock will still hold up the rear, but when you remove that first bolt of the second shock, the back of the bike will smack down onto the rear tire, so you need to have someone or something hold the rear up when you remove the final shock. can’t recall that it would cause any damage when it’s completely lowered. Just gotta make sure the spring isn’t compressed when pulling off and ease it down.

I like bikes where i can reach up to the headlight and turn it off, because it’s a full moon and you’re on a vast expanse of interstate hiway with no one in sight in front or behind you…yeah baby!

Love it !

I told a fiend once (while complaining to him about modern cars and their excessive use of dash / consul / door lights) to through a blanket over his dash and notice how much easier it is to see out the windshield and how much less tired his eyes get when they are not fighting all the glare.

As for modern LED head lights, I'm not a big fan.
While driving at night I keep thinking that people are flashing me as small bumps in the road move the narrow beams across my eye.
these systems seem to have much higher power to compensate for very narrow beam widths.

As an old dude, I can recall when the getting sited for lights being "too bright", back in the late 70's, when fitting fog light to the front bumper (a hip thing to do then)....   and yes better than a fart can on the tail pipe...

I'm on the record for usually saying these systems are scapegoats for other problems and to leave them alone.

But there's a super easy way to test if they are a problem on any given vehicle.

Simply seal the purge line leading to the throttle body using a hose pinching tool and take a test run. If the symptom is gone with the tool installed and back with it removed you have irrefutable proof of the culprit.

Now, I also heard mention of the SAS (Secondary Air System) being an issue. But the SAS is simply a reed valve used to inject fresh air (O2) at the exhaust port where the stream enters the exhaust itself. This is to help afterburn in the pipe and cat to clean leftover HCs through more complete burning. It shouldn't disrupt combustion in the chamber in any way unless MAYBE MAYBE MAYBE reducing scavenge ever so slightly but even then I'm skeptical it's an issue.
