v7ii head protectors
« on: March 19, 2019, 02:20:27 PM »
Finally about ready to do the 600 mile service as ski season hit hard this year but spring has sprung.  I think I would like to find some head protectors but can't seem to find any that list the v7ii as fitment.  Are the valve covers different on the ii then the earlier model?  Any thoughts?

I really like Sato sliders. Not cheap but great quality and unobtrusive. I have Sato rear sets on my Café Classic and they're a thing of beauty.

Contact Joe, he does great machine work, at very reasonable prices.
He may have some V7 guards available, he's produced and sold them in the past.

Ha ha I have One Racing sliders on my MkI and Sato on the MKIII.

Over stopped producing theirs, so I had no choice, but the Sato kit seems first rate.

The early 2TB V7s had a different rocker cover & there were a few different head protectors available. The only one I've come across for the 1TB bikes (though there's likely to be another) is from GT Motorcycles which allows the old small block rocker covers to fit, as well as provide a head guard.

Here's a photo of the V7C - works well.

I don't use anything on the Special, though others have been happy with crash bars - the Agostinis appear to be the preferred option there.

Just found the official accessories catalogue lists a "cylinder protection kit". It's not clear from the mere photo where & how these attach. Probably worth following up.

Ed Milich makes excellent heavy-duty head guards the for early series smallblocks, Tonti's and CARCs.  His site doesn't show anything for the modern V7 smallblocks, but it might be worth an email to him to be sure.
