Nice fall ride today with some heavy weights
« on: November 04, 2018, 05:18:49 PM »
The little 850 Lm III had a ball chasing 1600 @ 1400 cc's of modern muscle down some country back roads today. It's amazing what a capable bike these early Tonti's are. I had no desire for more horses and was pushing the little goose up their wazzoo all day. What a blast.

So true,,  my friend with the big beemer likes to push it pretty hard .  I laugh when he guns it out of the corners and off he goes , funny thing is I'm always right  back on his tail going into the next turn as it takes him so long to slow that beast down. It's like the rabbit and the turtle show.

I rode with a group that calls themselves "C14 (Kawasaki Concours 1400) Owners and Friends" on my Morini 350 K2. I was right on their tails every time the roads got twisty tight. They all swore it had to be a 500 or had a nitrous bottle hidden somewhere.  Great fun.

No question working a small bike hard is way more fun than just rolling  the throttle on a big beast.  I'm sure the game would change drastically on major roads, obviously. But on secondary twisty back roads, I'll take a light, nimble,  basic bike like the 850 every time.

Lucian,
If we get another short span of decent weather before snow moves in, gimme a scream, I'll help with pushing the land yachts around the back roads, or dragging them through the twisties.     I can even use the EV Touring or the HD...  :bike-037:

I can use the Hawk GT if you rather.

What a sweet LeMans III you have there.  A friend of mine in Bath has a white one also, he has owned it for many years.

Best,
Rob

  Hey Rob, will do. funny you mentioned your friend with the LMIII . early this summer my wife and I were headed for Nova Scotia and we stopped at Tri Sports to get an inspection sticker on the Cali. When we pulled out onto Main st your friend came by on that white Lemans and I couldn't believe my eyes. The whole trip I kept wondering if it was someone you might know up your way.  You'll have to bring him along!  We usually try and ride every weekend and typically  up through Durham , New Gloucester, and beyond. Pm me a contact and I'll keep you posted  , Dave.
