« on: June 11, 2016, 07:07:38 PM »
Thinkng about a new Griso and want to do a bit of homework.  Any other issues affecting them? Thanks in advance.

Unless they made changes to the wiring, the 2016s are potentially going to fall to the starter issue at some point. It's a simple change, easily reversed should you ever want to, and it'll remove a likely point of future frustration.

As for other known issues, the 2016s benefit from refinements to mapping and other improvements that have been made over the years.

Hi ITSec,

Thanks for the info.

No changes to mapping since about 2010, they still use the GRS8V-03 map. Last iteration of the Griso uses the Cali 1400 sump and filter system, otherwise they remain the same as all models since the change to the roller top end in mid 2012. If they appear more refined it's probably down to the fact that they are leaving the factory with the throttle bodies set up better and with an initially better tune.

I find it deeply ironic but oh so typical that just as they finally get them pretty good and people seem to be finally realising what an outstanding machine it is they stop production and decide to run with what we are now lumbered with .

Ah well, ya gotta live with what you've been given. I'll probably be buying a V9 later this year so we can get them running right. I'll probably put some real forks on it and try to make the back end a bit more *Modern* too. Nothing really *Wrong* with the motive package, it's just the crap that is used to carry it around that's the problem. It needs hi-cams and four more valves though and preferably twin TB's with RBW.

Startus Interuptus  is here to stay as long as they insist on feeding the start relay via the ignition switch.

The switches and wiring was not designed to carry 45 - 50 Amps.

Luigi thinks the starter solenoid only draws 10 Amps :violent1:

Hello everyone,

Thanks for all the replies and the info.  This bike is FUN!  Are they any other ailments a new potential owner should be aware of?  I'm not mechanically inclined so I'm going to have to have the dealer perform all of the service..Sounds like this may be an expensive endeavor for me.

Status Interrupts on  2016.
NO!
Sort of.
A 2016 is covered by the dealer. So no in that respect. It also isn't going to have the dirty ignition switch and corroded contacts of an older bike.....yet. Plus it won't have the gummed up starter solenoid from years of clutch dust.
So eventually it might. But now it shouldn't.

Just wondering if this flaw effects the  early 750 Breva's?  If so is there a quick and easy fix similar to what was installed on my 07 Norge?

Yes it will, but it's not a big deal, the fix is easy.

As Roy notes, this info is available in the forum archives - just search on Breva 750 starter. I'm not aware of a pre-finished fix for the small blocks (the way there is for the big bikes), but it's a very easy fix to install for yourself.

Thanks Kiwi I'm assuming your talking about the power supply fix to the relay?  My only. Question about this fix is to make certain I'm cutting the  wire  to the right relay,  if I understand the fix it is to the square relay in the middle. Which I believe is the relay labeled the injector relay.
