Interesting find! I am a little unsure about the 72hp rate, but don't know two strokes that well. A lot of experimental aircraft run on less.
I understand that McCullough also made a counter rotating prop that the military used for target drones. A dual counter rotating prop in front of 72hp would bring a lot of horsepower per pound.

They did make 72 HP, along with enough noise for 720 HP. The flat four McCulloughs were really, really loud :grin:
