'07 Norge instrument display hell
« on: March 25, 2024, 09:22:12 PM »
For the love of god how do I get back to the Trip/ODO display on my '07 Norge from the Mode (Menu/Chrono) display?  :angry:

While in Mode/Menu (was there to try to reconcile instrument errors...), any thumb push to the left/right just cycles thru Menu/Chrono or Battery display. A lengthy push down puts me INSIDE the Menu or Chrono sub-menu display (Batt doesn't have sub-menu), and there's an "exit" option to get out, but I can't back up farther than Menu/Chrono. Grrrrrrrr......seri ously dislike this aspect of modern vehicles. (Batt doesn't have sub-menu)

Have had my Norge for 5 years and I have fought the screens and that toggles lever the whole time. I can’t help. I think I just finally get lucky. Will it leave that screen if you turn the bike off?

You have to press, slip, slide, hold tell your thumb hurts 17 times. Then do it all over again until you get it.

Now is not possible for me add images, but in user manual is written (translation from italian version):
".They are enclosed in the MODE function the functions that allow the user to interact with the system.
To enter the MODE function:
· Move the selector to the LEFT (if applicable we are in TRIP1) or a
DX (if we are in TRIP2), up to reach the MODE function.
By briefly moving the selector to LEFT or RIGHT position can be displayed the following functions cyclically:

- STOPWATCH (6);
- MENU (function excluded with vehicle in movement) (7);
- BATTERY VOLTAGE (8).
The BATTERY VOLTAGE function does not give rise to interactions with the user."

Mine is an ‘07 Norge.
I cannot tell you here and now how to do it, if I’m sitting on the bike it just seems easy but I concede that it is a bit cumbersome at first.
If I get a chance, I’ll shoot a video.

forget about that damnable button for a moment... did you click the switch out of 'mode' back up to trip 1 or trip 2?

Thanks for the reply, but if you re-read my first whine in my opening post, this is what I can't figure out how to do. "...click the switch out of 'mode' back up to trip 1 or trip 2" is what I can't figure out.

I recall early in my ownership (it's only been 7 mo) I ran into this same thing and didn't pay attention to it, maybe, just maybe, it re-sets to ODO after I start the bike and drive off? This was shortly after coming off long-time use on a Tonti and I wasn't distracted by stupid digital displays, but just like modern cars, the temptation to be distracted is overwhelming, and I hate that.

Mine is a 1200 Sport, but the theory should be the same with the same slider switch.  Unless I've completely misunderstood your question, then my humblest apologies.

Thanks for trying, but the Norge (at least, MY Norge) does not have that same slider switch. Now THAT makes sense. Who @ the Guzzi OEM supplier, or WHO on the Guzzi design/marketing team thought it was a better idea to abandon that for the Norge version?

Keep pressing the slider switch to the right and hold it for multiple seconds…as long as you are not deep In the Diagnostic menu in which case you’d have to scroll to get to EXIT, then press inwards on the slider button.  If you are just in the first screen of the Diagnostic menu, then just hold the slider button to the right for 3-5 seconds and it will bring you back to Trip 1…then hold again for another 3-5 seconds and you get will move to Trip 2….and so on .

I suggest reading the manual. You can find a copy here:

Pages 18-19 discuss this control.

I agree this action must be the "way out", but I swear I held that slider both left & right for a LOOOOOOONG time and no movement back to the ODO screen. I'll go out and try this again, maybe even time how long I hold it down.

I have the hardcopy of the manual and read it a bazillion times, nowhere does it say how to go backward from MODE to the ODO screen.

I’ve had the same problem on my 07 Norge for the 9 years I’ve owned it, cleaned the switches several times, the problem crops up when I want to set the clock,which I’ve now given up trying. It was a choice between seeing the trip meter both A and B or having a clock. I now disconnect the bike battery wait several minutes and start over after reconnecting the bike battery, I know there is a battery in the dash, which has never been changed, and perhaps if that was also removed or changed I’d regain function, but I’ve learned to live with it as is.

 As much as I love my Norge it has continued to disappoint with how the dash is nearly unusable EVEN if I can barely remember how to user the menu in the daylight it is so light to be unreadable and yes I have the lighting turned up as much as possible.

Have sent you a PM Brider…I think you might be pressing In and sliding right at the same time.  Just slide it right without pressing IN.  If not give me a ring…pretty sure it’s an easy fix.
