Thanks for all the feedback.

I went on the test ride yesterday, and the ride was nothing short of thrilling. The bike totally surprised me. It is so powerful, smooth, handles amazing, suspension was way better than expected, and fits me well enough (need a new seat, just like I needed on the CB1100).

The dealer is willing to take enough bikes in trade to cover the entire purchase price and then some....

Think I'm going to do it. Just have to figure out which bikes in the (overly large) stable will need to go....
Nice looking bike!  Haven't ridden an R9T (yet!)  This one (attached pic) would be a great stablemate for my perpetually young 1991 R100GS.

Probably a little bit tall and heavy for me at this stage in my life.  However, after having a black and yellow Beemer in the garage since 1991, this 40th Anniversary Edition of the GS series calls out way too loud to me.  Obviously not a GS, but an R9T in 'bumblebee" attire!

I don't think I've ever won a raffle, but I keep trying!  The BMWMOA Foundation is holding a 20 bike raffle this summer ..... winners to be announced at the National Rally.  $100 put me in the running for one of 20 bikes.  So, essentially $5 a chance.

I had to put 50 additional miles on a R9T Scramble that was to be sold as a demo and needed the clicks.  I was a lot of fun.

I looked hard at the 9RT back in 2015-16 in my search for a new naked standard. Ended up with the Griso.

It is a great bike, and I like what BMW has done with the platform and all the versions of it. Griso was a better fit for me.

Interesting, I had the Griso, bought without sitting/having a test ride, and it did NOT fit me at all...6' 4" and I was folded up like a cheap wallet, was lucky to find a buyer for it. 

Apart from ergonomics, the R Ninet ran much better than the Goose, especially at lower revs.  The Goose did have a much more visceral feel however, which I personally like.  The Beemer was much smoother than I expected.

It checks most of the boxes for me. Would like a bigger seat, luggage rack and panniers to replace my 1200 Sport.
Tubeless spoke wheels, driveshaft, analog (style) guages, 5 gallon fuel capacity. More than enough power. I don't see many around Seattle, but maybe I haven't been looking hard enough.

I was speaking figuratively. The literal fit was not ideal, but knight lowering pegs and bar risers fixed that. I have the 4V 1100 motor and like it more than the 8V.

No, but the front of it is a leatherette pad that comes off giving a small storage space for gloves, etc. The hinge for the pad is notoriously fragile...so its essentially unusable (for me).
