My good friend Blain Paulus just pulled in for NYE dinner and is finishing out his 2014 log book. As of today he has ridden a minimum of 10 miles every day for the last 5,427 days without missing not one single day. Living in the Northeast as you can imagine this can be quite a challenge.
I hope to see him do 10,000 days in a row ;-T

Blaine (Paulus) was a Guzzi dealer back in the '80s, ran BP Cycles in Dauphin, PA. He lives near Biglersville, PA now (north of Gettysburg).

Go Blaine!
Blaine (Paulus) was a Guzzi dealer back in the '80s, ran BP Cycles in Dauphin, PA. He lives near Biglersville, PA now (north of Gettysburg).
He also was a successful racer in the "Battle of the Twins" series in the 80's as well -- on Moto Guzzi, of course. His nickname back in the say was "Dr. Smooth", because of his smooth riding style. He is still smooth and fast to this day.

Multiple bikes. He is also into getting miles on as many different manufacturers bikes as possible. Normal everyday bikes are GS's.

That is phenomenal! I live in (southwestern) PA, and I do seem to recall quite a number of heavy snowstorms in the past 15 years . . . so how do you ride a motorcycle (I'm assuming this means two wheels, not three) in a foot or two of snow? Maybe they do a better job of plowing in central PA, but I live on a state-maintained road and there were a couple of storms where they weren't here for a couple of days.
Inquiring minds, and all that . . .

Be elsewhere, much more southern.

Yes all on two wheels. He has different bikes set up for different weather conditions. I think if push came to shove he would ride circles in his garage on the trials bike to get his 10 ;D

He has studded tires on a (or more than one) Lifan 200cc dual sport. I've seen Facebook selfies of him with his face shield completely iced over after rides during our many ice storms. He is a breed all his own.

That's sounds like the Blaine I know. ;D

Damn. If that is the standard to be a motorcyclist, I'm a piker. :-[ Love to hear about, read about, associate with people with that kind of drive and tenacity. Love people that never ever give up. ;-T :bow

Maybe not a piker, maybe you've just got a job .... :D Just kidding a little bit, but jeez, I've spent probably 50 24 periods in that time in airports and in transit where you can't get your hands near a motorcycle if you wanted to ... ?
I guess you have to dedicate your whole lifestyle toward that being a goal, and give up everything else. .... ;-T

So how is Blaine doing??
-
Good to hear that he's back on the road. :thumb: I met him shortly after he shut down his dealership. I came in for a wedding. I was in the neighborhood and thought I'd drop in to take a look at some bikes and the Moto Guzzi dealer sign he had for sell. I did ponder the packing and shipping the sign back to Hawaii. It was big.

That's impressive!

As of Sept. 13th, Blaine has already done 60k miles this year.
-
Glad he recovered. The riding stuff is cool too.

 What else could be said. In general must be one healthy SOB to not had any other illnesses that would have grounded him for at least a day.
