You meet the nicest people on Guzzis
« on: October 30, 2016, 03:37:54 PM »
Unseasonably warm here in CT so took the Storny for a bimble up around the reservoirs. Stopped at Aspetuck Valley Apple Barn to pick up some apples when what do I see but a couple more Guzzis in the lot.

My Storny sidled up next to a sweetly tuned V7II Racer (Jim Hamlin's handiwork) and a beautiful California. Turned out both bikes belonged to a local rider who was out for a pie-run with a friend. I stumbled on them tucking into a fresh-from-the-oven apple pie.

I went inside to get my apples and when I returned, they left half a pie on my saddle, still warm (and kept that way by my Arrow pipe!)

With some effort I restrained myself from eating the whole damned thing. Just consumed half of the half. It was awesome. As Guided by Voices would say, "delicious pie and thank you."

You meet the nicest people on Guzzis.

Two nice surprises on a day ride for sure! Unexpected family & a pie. I can't help but wonder though what that pie did to be damned to hell by God.

Wonderful Guzzi Folk all over Guzzi Land!

Each fall I putter to a place called Paulus Orchard (which is out in the middle of nowhere near 522 E Mt Airy Rd, Dillsburg, PA) for one of their homemade apple crisp/homemade vanilla bean ice cream concoctions. It's absolutely delicious and only a few thousand calories per spoonful. I've already had my fix this year but should the opportunity to leave work early happen one day this week, I will sacrifice myself and ride up there for another and take pictures for you, my dearest Guzzi friends.

Darn. I won't be able to share the apple crisp creation with you. I was surfing Paulus' site and just saw they closed for the season today.

Nope, the high pipes tend to melt ice cream. Better for keeping pie warm. :thumb:

Nice looking bike.
I go by that place a lot on my way home from Jim's shop (to pick up the Merritt).

I guess I'll have to stop next time.

Adventurelounger,

Sounds like a fun day for sure.  Three great looking bikes.

I have a question about your bag setup on the Storny.  What is that bag and how is it attached?  One of my objections to the scrambler setup is the difficulty of getting bags on it, but that looks like it might work well for short trips.

Hi Alan,

Yeah, high pipes create a luggage quandary. I put on the OEM left side pannier rack, and then ordered a single left-side 25L bag from Mosko Moto. They make GREAT stuff. The bag has a waterproof liner and is absolutely bullet proof. Plus a really slick baseplate/mating system for the rack. Goes on and off in a second.

When I ordered my bag from Tiffany @ Mosko Moto, she mentioned they were discontinuing the 25L but still sell a 35L bag. That might be an even better idea. 25L fits some stuff, but not much. When a buddy of mine and I took a trip to VT this summer, we took the Storny and my other bike, a Super Tenere. She was the REAl pack mule.

Hope this helps.

That helps a lot.  I need to look at the OEM accessories.  I am really starting to like the looks of the Stornello!

Would the "etc" part have anything to do with Momcorp on Futurama ?

I had to Google Momcorp and Futurama to Grok your question. Not like Jack's store across the street. He Groc's everything. He even uses the 'S correctly, unlike Moms.

I think this (these?) Moms "etc." is (are?) all about ice-cream and coffee.

Nice report!
Hamlin bikes run great, do they not?  I have two of them!  Jerry P knows, too.

On another note, when I bought my V7 I had Jim install a Ventura rack system.  As my Triumph riding friends say, "it works a treat" and may be an option for you scrambler guys.

We have those country pie places by me in WNY also.  Yum!
