I'm back on deck!
« on: October 03, 2016, 09:40:01 AM »
Hi there people.

Some months ago ( I think it was) my ISP, Woosh Wireless, went belly up. With it went my Internet and phone and suddenly I was devoid of communications with the world and any presence on line.

There were a lot of problems and considerable drama, I even had to make physical changes in my flat, but I am finally back on, and this time with a copper connection.

There are lots of providers I didn't look at because their sole presence is on line and that I didn't have access too. I had to rely on providers I knew about through TV advertising etc.

In the end I went with the company that supplies me with power. I could have done with a smaller plan than their smallest so I was buying more than I needed and after a  year the price increases to more than I am comfortable spending, though this is offset somewhat by accompanying power discounts and so on.

What sold me however (apart from increasing impatience to get back on line) was that the power company were a delight to deal with and bent over backwards to sort things out and get problems solved.  I also didn't have to continually try and decipher what was being said with strong foreign accents.

Anyway, it seems someone on WG missed me, and made inquiries through Muzz which resulted in the Police ringing my next door neighbour  and asking the lady of the house to check on me and to ring them back.  I was touched.

Took a few phone calls but we made it in the end John! :thumb:

I must say here how great the guy in the police communications was. I had exhausted the obits, all the local hospitals and also the out of town extreme cases one, so I contacted the police. The guy couldn't have been more courteous and helpful. He went through all the avenues I had gone through, and then started at the next level. He had me on hold for a bit, and was I relieved when he came back and said he had located a neighbour and you were fine.

They get plenty of negative flack, I would have to say the help I got was simply brilliant.

As someone that has gone the obit route, then finally the local bar - only to confirm that indeed my buddy had passed; I'm more than tickled that this time we have a happy ending. Welcome back to the world!  (having no comms is a huge withdrawl pain!!)

650kms is a bit far to check out the local bar. But then.... :bike-037: Any excuse!

Ah ha, the case of the missing Kiwi, solved.
I'll stop the search of Bondi and eastern Sydney
Cops over here are far to busy manning speed traps, to do much else, looks like your still do a real job.
Glad you're back on line.

There you were, lying low under the radar, minding your own business in the bloom of spring, when some random guzzisti sics the cops on ya.  FOR NO REASON EXCEPT YOU'RE A BIKIE!  See how they are?  Up here we calls it "profiling".  Can't trust 'em.  Darn guzzisti.  I'd cyberattack the forum with reports of what I've been up to just to get even.  I would.   :whip2:

Indeed, welcome back. With the other things you had related to us, (things you were or still are dealing with health wise), we were concerned about you!

I'm happy to see you posting again.
