Riding with a torn hamstring
« on: October 01, 2016, 04:23:49 PM »
Just ain't any fun at all- especially on the 750s :weiner:

Only about 70 miles left to go and a fridge full of liquid anaesthetic awaits. :boozing:

This injury sucks big time because it takes time to heal, good new is you can incorporate the liquid anaesthetic of your choice for as long as it takes

Take chondroitin/glucosamine food supplements to help with the nutrients for that injury.

I'm usually pretty good about checking that the sprung side-stand is down properly. Today though, I got lazy and paid for it.  I felt the bike going over and tried to stop it from falling into the obsessively clean and new Harley I parked next to. The 750 missed the Harley, but I was out of balance and over-stretched my left hamstring as it went down.  Ouch, that smarts.

I knew exactly what I'd done as I did it once before in Taekwondo.  Riding home almost 300 miles was no picnic (edit: I exaggerate! Its was 251miles - I just checked) . The only way I could get any relief was by hitching my toe onto the passenger peg by the pant leg, bending my knee like a pretzel, and bearing down slightly with my toe.  But relief was short lived and I would soon have to change positions again.

If you can take aspirin, do it.  Thins the blood out so that it can circulate into the injured area.  Gentle massage as hard as you can handle to help circulation.  Coach Wrestling/Sifu Gung Fu.

Get some cranberry  or raspberry juice or even apple juice.  Get some Bragg raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar.
pour about a shot glass or a little less into a cup and top it off with the fruit juice.  Drink this about once or twice a day.
Hamstring cramps are very painful.  If they happen on a pulled muscle hamstring, they are just awful.
The vinegar prevents muscle cramp and can even help stop one if it already occurs.
Besides, the vinegar is a great nourishment in its' own right.
I used to have hamstring cramps so bad that one of then actually tore the muscle.  That's when I was told about the vinegar.  It works and I have used it daily ever since.

I can testify to Jims prescription for apple cider vinager, it does work.

That's tough man. Hamstrings are a bear.  Here's hoping for an uncomplicated recovery.

Well then a shot of grappa would definitely make it "off to the races". :thumb:

Ouch!  Sorry to hear it, Nick.  At least it happened in the Fall, and not the Spring!

Heal up fast!

Ugh!  Are you sure you're up to some riding this weekend?  We can just consume some liquid painkiller instead!   :boozing:

Cheers,
Shaun

The back of my left leg looked just like that earlier this summer from an HD Roadster in the showroom I tried to let down easy (successfully) from wiggling back and forth to make a little more room and the side stand worked it's way up just enough so it would not hold when I tried to set it back down again. Never noticed the side stand moved, no harm on the Roadster, but that hurts like hell!

I fine Shaun. I was out working in the field (carefully) all day.  I'll be good to go.
