This is exactly what type of thing I thought might happen with hosting or cloud services. Once they get you hooked and you have sent your pics or documents to a service. They will start charging and eventually hold your pics or documents hostage till you pay up.

f*** OFF!
F if I'm gonna pay that!
Anyone have a better suggestion on photo hosting sites?
If I use this site's uploader will it be forever?Testing, one, two, three.............. ............

I visited their site to look into sucking back my photos. Only because I had gone to the trouble of resizing them smaller before posting. Anyway, although you can suck them back into your computer, I was only able to figure out how to do one at a time. Furthermore, you are being bombarded with adds to the point that it is a losing proposition. It would take more time than I'm willing to devote and I have less than 20 pages of photos there. I truly pity the poor person that actually used them as a repository for their photo collection. I guess that is what they are banking on................

I would like to simply delete them out and sign off their now crappy site forever. Oh and tell everyone I see to avoid them like the plague.

I downloaded all my albums from the bucket and just left the account hanging.  I use imgrr now for photo hosting.

Were you able to do the entire album or did you have to do them one at a time?

If you did the whole thing, how did you do that?

I was able to download the entire album as a zip file but I did it early when it first hit the fan.  Not sure how  you can do it now.  I'm trying to help a friend of mine download 3,000 pictures (less than I had) and I'm not having any luck with his.

Phootbucket charging now?? Help
« Reply #67 on: July 29, 2017, 07:12:11 PM »
Hey- so I guess Photobucket is now trying to charge you to 3rd party host images. The site is full of spam now also. Anyone have any suggestions for a new image hosting site?

One of the guys on the Canadian Kawasaki triples board bought a domain name and set up a cheap photo hosting site for his fellow board members.  It didn't cost much, and since it's under the control of one of the members, it's unlikely to disappear or otherwise go bad without warning.

Since this board lets us upload our photos directly, we're all set as-is.  (thank you Luap)

When did this happen?

The last time I attempted to download a picture, a third-party host was required.

I don't know... a while back.  Luap announced the improvement.  When you're composing a post and want to add a photo, click the "Add image to post" text just below the composer window.

Well here is the official link to photobucket"s new terms. NO 3rd hosting unless you buy it.
 http://photobucket.com/terms
I still see a lot of Avatars on WG with the photobucket "no 3rd party hosting" sitting where the Avatar belongs.
NOW someone tell me how to use the uploading on WG cause I cannot find it and I reread this tread and cannot find instructions.
So help this dodo out please.  :gotpics:
I tried adding my Avatar on my personal page but it would not let me upload. But also how do you upload on thread?????
Anyone?

The only downside to that (and I know it's not supposed to have a downside) is that if I post, say, a travelogue  or a trip report or something that isn't WG specific, I'm posting it on 2, 3, or 4 different sites, some of which don't have on-site image storage.   And even if they did, I'd have to separately load the pictures to each site on which I wanted to post them.

So I just continue using a photo-hosting site (one that is not eating it's young ... yet) and that way I only have to upload my photo from my camera to the hosting site ... once!

I haven't gotten the ransom letter yet and I guess my links still work:

Is it because I'm a "W" and they just haven't gotten to me yet?

Well, it took them a little longer to find my photos but looks like I've got the ransom note now...

Copied from another forum. I tried the Chrome fix and it works for me. Yay!

I all, just read this on another forum and wanted to share it here as pictures are so important to sharing info about our hobby. I just copied the post so here it is and it seems to work with firefox for me.
Fix for seeing Photobucket pics

Postby yavapaigunworks Tue Oct 10, 2017 11:13 pm
If you're using Google Chrome, go to the three dots on the right side of the screen and click them. A drop down should appear. Hover your mouse over "More Tools," and when the next drop down appears, click on extensions. Go to the link towards the bottom that says "Get more extensions." In the search box, type "Photobucket Fix," and hit enter. Click the install button and once it's done, you should be able to see photobucket pictures again.

For FireFox users, click on the three bars on the right side of the screen, then click on add ons. Click search for "photobucket hotlink" and click install. Same result.
