Guzzidiag Reader: Initialization Failed!

(1/3) > >>

lewisham_phil:
Hoping someone can help me in the battle to upload an ECU map to my 2012 V7 1TB Special:
I've bought the decent Lonelec connector, downloaded the V7-1TB-NoCat map from Mark at Griso.org, got a functioning Windows 10 laptop off Ebay, Got V.06 Guzzidiag, got the V.05 Reader and V.06 Writer, and also the recommended drivers (/CDM21228_Setup.zip):
However, I've fallen at the first hurdle! Using the Reader, after twenty seconds of saying 'connecting...' it comes up with 'Initialization failed' then 'turn off ignition for at least ten seconds', which when OK'd, closes the Reader.
I've made sure Guzzidiag isn't running; it's looking at the right COM port; turned off firewall and Virus software..  but it keeps doing it. It saves a small text file adjacent to the App each time this happens: Each one has ten lines of incremental time stamp in milliseconds, followed by FAST INIT.. (eg:  49394891ms FAST INIT )
I've done a web search, but it's not coming up with much; one mentioned trying 'slow init', but I can't see where to change this. Unless they were being funny, innit.
I'm not sure what to try next, and would appreciate any ideas..
Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure what type of safety switches, relays, ignition,ECU,wiring sequences are in that bike, but you might want to play around with different combinations if you're having trouble connecting to the ECU and getting it to read properly.

I recently used guzzidiag to adjust the CO trim on my 2003 V11 Lemans while it was up on the lift.

As the bike was warming up so I could do the adjustment,I happened to notice that the side stand was down. So with the best of intentions I moved the side stand from down to the up position, saying to myself, "I don't want that side stand safety switch to screw up my ECU/GD connection".

Sure enough,I lost the GD connection, and it took me 3 frustrating days, before I figured out that through some completely counter intuitive anomaly in the wiring, the only way GD will connect to the ECU on that bike is if the side stand is down.  AAaarrrggghhhh

fyi fwiw

GuzziOrDeath:

First thing to try is the adapter test. It will confirm whether your cables are working.

Can you connect with GuzziDiag?

You might want to try changing the state of your kill switch. It shouldn't make any difference with a V7, but stranger things have happened.

Huzo:
Are you absolutely certain you have the correct bike selected in the drop down menu ?
I once tried to re set the TGPS on the V85 for three hours with the Norge selected on Guzzidiag…. :embarrassed:

guzzisteve:
That model is V7 II
