There probably is a webcam somewhere , but the video would be like watching paint dry .

Hope the roads over there are passable. Debra and I are riding thru there Thursday afternoon. Staying at Indigo Sky, then Friday taking a long route to Hot Springs. Forecast for Hot Springs is supposed to be rain free. I'm going there!
The best part of riding a motorcycle is to tilt the horizon and to lift the front coming out of a corner and to drift the back end powering thru loose dirt and to catch a little air topping a hill and... yeah it's all good!

looked like it was heading north of you.

Hot and humid today, this is when we get the twisters.

Did anyone see the vids of the houses on the Cimarron River?  That's just north of me, normally it's a huge ditch with a trickle of water.  I ride up there pretty often for the twisty road that follow the river.  Cimarron City is just west of Guthrie (frontier Capital)

Two barges anchored in the Mcclellan-Kerr navigation channel have broken loose and are headed for the Lock and Dam at Webber Falls OK at a high rate of speed . Webber Falls , Gore , and downstream are being evacuated . Wholey Schmidt , 30 years living here , this type of thing hasn't happened in that time .

The Arkansas River is running at record levels , it's freaky looking .

It's no joke right now in NEOK and SWMO.

Two confirmed tornadoes on the ground right now between Jay and Southwest City.

Heading Northeast toward Anderson.

Crossing mainly farmland at the moment, but heading toward some towns that could be heavily impacted.

I-40 at Webbers Falls Oklahoma is closed.
US-64 at Webbers Falls Oklahoma is closed.

This will impact thousands of trucks and autos tonight.  There is no way to cross The Arkansas River in this area, with both bridges closed.

Corps of Engineers is expecting a real bad deal.  They think the lock & dam may fail when impacted by the barges, and both bridges are just downriver from the dam.

Long detour south on US-59, OK-9, and OK-2 around Robert S. Kerr Reservoir.

What a mess.

I read they closed the I-40 bridge across the river.  I remember when a barge took it out a few years ago when several drivers were killed.

Of course if the dam is taken out there could be several communities wiped out before it even gets to the bridge.

Serious stuff.

The entire town of Webbers Falls is under an evacuation order.  They're setting up shelters in nearby towns.

A failed dam at flood stage won't be good all the way down the river.  Fort Smith, Van Buren, etc...

Have some friends in Webber Falls and Gore , they have evacuated . The Corp is predicting record flooding , even if the dam at Webber holds . This is a mess . Tornadoes are scary , but water does more damage . The Arkansas has entire trees floating downstream that may cause more damage than the barges . People here are worried the power plant is in danger of flooding , which is doubtful , but the marina at Ft Gibson is a mess .

The Kerr lake damn is already running wide open , if the Webber damn gives this will get ugly .

Sounds like the barges are aground on a rock jetty and crews have been able to secure them.

Lots of damage and several deaths in Missouri overnight.  Jefferson City got hit pretty hard.

The barges may not be secured yet , but they look to be stopped . When they broke loose from the port here , OHP stopped traffic on HW 62 until the barges cleared the bridges , then did the same thing at I 40 .

Once again , I am in no danger , although the calls and messages are appreciated , seems like the only time we make the national news is when we are having a disaster

The barges were found upstream stuck on a rock jetty.  Crews were trying to secure them.

The saga of the runaway barges continues , they have broken away from the jetty and are now heading down river again . Webbers Falls is being evacuated . More news to come .
