Old Guzzi used as fence post..........
« on: October 20, 2016, 07:34:52 PM »
I was driving out in farm land near Emmett Idaho and saw an old, weathered bike leaned up against a fence near the street. I saw it was an old Guzzi.  Of course I had thoughts about offering the owner $100 but then thought what would I do if they accepted????? Too big of a project for me.

Anyone interested???? I can always go back and see if they want to part with their gate guard.......

That does look like a hinged rear fender.  The plot thickens.

That does look like a v7 sport! I would be all over it if I was closer. Looks like it appears to be decent except for the seat, and has all the original hard to find parts.

The plot really thickens:  Swan neck clip ons, that gas tank, sidecovers, 4ls front brake.  It's definitely a 750 Sport and very much worth restoring.  Considering what a nice one will fetch nowadays, I wouldn't care if the motor was locked up or not!

Yep.....Swan neck clip-on's.  Buy it otherwise I'll have some friends in the Moscow area pick it up.

Hey  Mr Caffeino
I would be very interested in checking this out as a project if the owner was willing and wanted to part with his lawn art.
That could be a great long term project. And would give me a good reason to make a road trip out west and visit a brother in Utah.
I'll gladly send you contact info if your serious about checking this out. If Tom or his friends don't pick it up first.
Dave

It ran fine when I parked it.

Surprised to see so much interest and even some kinda locals interested in this. As today is the warmest day of the week I was planning on going for a little ride. Might as well go see if I can talk to the owner. Not sure about how to make the connection between buyer and seller. It may currently be junk in his yard but if he learns about the interest it may suddenly become his favorite bike.
The only thing I would want out of this is to see a restoration thread here.

All PM's will be replied to after I ride by this afternoon and see if I can talk to someone......

Don't say that there's a lot of interest, just that you're curious about the bike and wonder if it's for sale.

Or that you have a friend who's looking for an old motorcycle project.

Just got back from a ride on the 1200 Sport....... I was greeted by the owners dog and then the bikes owner. Very friendly and nice person. We chatted for at least an hour about bikes. Showed me his Harley and told me about the Ural he used to have. To get to the point the bike looks worse up close. He ended up shooting the tank with a shotgun because a bird was on it. Got it out of an old barn. LOL He is very open to selling it OR trading for another old bike he can replace the Guzzi with. Not to drag this on but my internet is shite and I can not upload more pictures now. I could see the air box and speedometer are gone. He also told me he took a head off and saw the cylinders were scratched up so he put it together and stuck it out on the fence. I'll reboot the modem and try the pictures again soon........

Still probably worth saving.  Bird shot from a shotty wouldn't damage much.
