What did you do for your Guzzi this Xmas?
« on: December 24, 2015, 02:28:04 PM »
I installed a new starter for the '74 California, and cleaned it up - some.  But, my new gal "Bertha" has been hogging all my attention:
I got a new Stelvio (Bertha pronounced Ber ta) last month, and every day I have to go check it out.  :bike-037: I take it out for a ride as often as possible.  But, if I don't take a ride, I spend hours putzing around on it - looking for something to do.  So far I have added lots of little tidbits to it getting it ready for an imaginary trip.  I love the Green/Black Camo color scheme, but the bike is dangerously invisible for my Combat Commuting - so I've added some shiny & reflective bits so Cages can "See My Ass" on those dark, rainy Seattle freeways.  I added a Givi Trunk.  I created brush hand guard extenders, front & rear fender mud flaps, rear shock mud flap, front fork gaiters, electric gear plug-in, windshield rain/wind deflector, a soft glove box, 14" Tool Tube to fill the right side empty space, a buffalo seat cover, Hi-Viz reflective wheel tape, and a drink cup holder.  Jeez, I'm not working very much over the holidays, and it is giving me way too much time  :clock: to come up with crazy ideas to do on the Stelvio.  Somebody Stop Me  :boozing:
Hope you all get to do something for your Guzzi over the holiday.  See Ya

I bought a set of the 1" bar risers for the Griso. (They fit on top of the bar mounts). Ordered them from Todd at Guzzitech.  They look great.  Can't wait to install and check the bar positioning out.  (I currently have 1/2" spacers underneath the mounts).

I just re-arranged the placement of my Norge, added air to the tires, admired its beauty, and put its cover back on... Dreary weather here.

Ask for Heated Grips... so we could, of course, have above average temperatures for winter riding!?!

I have the same piece of crap since 2000,a76 convert. What I have done to it is ------NOT destroyed it,it truly deserves the worst I can give it,Ive considered drowing it,burning it burying it and even crushing it,I really like that one I could watch the juices squeezed out of it. Well my problem is I am really cheap and I have put 15 years of parts into it,so Ill just part it out! :whip2:

Treated the Ambo to a new front brake cable and grips.  Originals were petrified.   Lubed other cables.

Storney Scrambler got a new coil, plug wire and cap.  Fresh oil in the sump.  Giro ready!

75* in south Jersey today, but it poured rain all day.  I sweat my ass off in the garage.  Hope to get out for a ride tomorrow between Santa and the family mob for dinner.

I drained my battery dead flag and now I'm re-charging it.  Wanted to start 2016 with fresh electrons.

What did I do for my new V7 II? I decided to leave it with the dealer until the winter clears, which has turned out, as a resident of New York City, to be a questionable decision. The weather here has been goofy warm - 72F/22C on Christmas Eve.

A battery.

I came dangerously close to walking near to it with some carnauba wax but came to my senses.

Gave her a break, since I needed to head out of town to visit family over Xmas.  12/24/15 would have been an incredible riding day, either in NE Ohio, or Charleston WV, where I am at the moment.  Dash temp (car dash) showed nearly 70F late this afternoon.

Merry Xmas to all!

At least you didn't give it a girl name, must mean yours and mine are the only two Guzzis not named after imaginary friends.  :thumb:

Mine will get run tomorrow until the oil cooler fan comes on and in return it will get a full tank of fuel, premium as usual. Christmas is a working day for the thing, providing transport to breakfast, the coast and home. Its the least it can do since its a rescue from the dealer's floor.

ElNino is going to slam us this year so every day it doesn't rain, its getting hauled out and made to earn its keep. With any luck, we'll get a 2-3 weeks window of perfect weather mid Feb so it can wear out the current set of tires.

If the replacement side stand come in, it will get that, if not, maybe I'll change the piece of piss fir  2x4 that helps the old side stand  for a fresh piece of redwood.

Got it last August for the Mrs. and have a trike kit to install on it (cherry `77 Convert.)   Rode it off & on until about a  month ago when we got a colder than normal winter `cause the east coasters didn't get their usual winter!   This bike had a factory windshield that didn't work for me so I sold it to a Guzzisti in Maine(via here) and installed a nos Shoei fairing I had bought a few years ago for a different bike.  Didn't think the fairing would work with the handlebar on the Convert. but it does!  :boozing:   Then remembered I had bought a chrome rear rack for my LM IV years ago that never worked but it bolted right on the Convert.    The right Tomaselli plastic throttle tube on the Convert. was toast so got a HotGrip heated grip to fix that.

For Xmas got a deluxe MC lift wide enough to handle a trike so that's the next project for our Convert. after I fix some other bikes/scooters before it.
