I went through about two or three boxes of old shot gun shells that had been stored in not ideal conditions and I reclaimed the lead shot for my rocketry projects and kept the powder for fire starter material. Maybe a third of a zip lock sandwich size bag. So if we get ma nature to quit crying the blues, we can get a fire started.

Got Jackal ready, got the Kamp ready and loaded, just have to pack clothing. And will be heading out sometime thursday. Gotta work wed night but should get back early enough to grab a nap and hit the road. Just depends on what ma nature feels like thursday as to how soon I take off.

See you there!

Here is an update from the Riding Dutchman.

After landing at LAX, where I was greeted by jdgretz and taken to his home to meet the family and then out for an Italian dinner, I got to the AirBnB I found nearby and slept like a baby until the next morning around 8. JD picked me up and I got the bags strapped on the bike. We rode a mountain road to Palmdale together, had lunch and then said goodbye, as he was turning around to get back home and I continued to Joshua Tree Village, where I stayed in a nice little motel. The next day I toured around Joshua Tree park and spent the rest of the day checking out this small village and doing much of nothing.

After 2 nights in the motel I took to the road again for a long stage that took me through a tiny place called Paradise, then I went beyond Hope and took my Guzzi straight through Congress on my way to Jerome, a lovely artist's village in the mountains high above Sedona. I passed around Sedona as it was already getting late and I have been in that tourist town before. I was greeted with my host for the next two nights in Southern Flagstaff. The next day was spent without any riding at all, but with a lot of nice talks and playing guitar together with my host.

Then it was time to move on and I rode another long stretch to Silver City. The ride there was beautiful, with long sweepers through gorgeous scenery. In Silver City I has another AirBnB booked and this turned out to be a lovely place to spend two nights. My hostess even took me to a hot spring in the mountains and we spent a lot of time taling about Life, the Universe and Everything. Again, there was a guitar on the premises, so I could practice a little more. And yesterday I arrived here in Albuquerque, where I am staying in a friend's house. The ride from Silver City was not as pleasant as the stages before, because of the strong head winds, which made the riding harder and the noise of the wind deafening.

Today was another day of resting and doing some work on the computer, just like tomorrow.  I am planning to leave for Clayton, New Mexico on Thursday and then ride the last section to Cedar Vale on Friday. The weather forecast is not particularly good, so I am keeping an eye on it and might decide to postpone my arrival in Cedar Vale by a day if conditions are really going to suck. The road is going to be mostly straight and boring and I do not want to make the experience worse than it needs to be. But I will be getting to Cedar Vale in any case, as I need to hand my bike over to StormTruck before he drops me at Wichita airport on Sunday.

So far this has been a nice trip and I am looking forward to meeting a bunch of Guzzi riders at Cedar Vale. See you at the end of the week.

Kirby flew out of DC last night to California , loads up his CX100 , and rides to Needles  , a distance of 231 miles . He called this morning about 9AM his time and is on his way East . Iron Man indeed .

Not that Cedar Vale is that big a town, but as I am a first-timer, can anyone tell me where exactly I am going to find you guys ? I could go for the noise of a bunch of Guzzi guys having beers and fun, but my EV makes a noise, too...  :bike

Then again, when I was watching Predator I didn't think two members of its cast would become governors, either. So you never know.

Thanks CJ, that confirms my guess when zooming in on Google Maps satellite view - looking for a large roof (after seeing the photos from last year) in an area that allows camping. Not too difficult in a small town like CV. I checked the weather forecast for Thu/Fri along the route and it seems that Cedar Vale is the worst spot to be this week. But the weather forecast does not know that a bunch of Guzzisti are going to be there.  ;D

You guys will hear me coming by the end of the afternoon or early evening. Possibly a bit wet from the Friday ride but who knows - I might be able to dodge the drops...

Yeah , thanks Jay . The hardest part of finding the park is not missing those little Cedar Vale signs on the highway at 70 MPH in the dark . Been going there for over 40 years , still miss the signs , of course back in the day the highway went through town , made it easier to find  ;D

Is this the first "Guzzi Gathering" of the year?  I think so.

Well played, Dusty.

My advice for all you folks heading to KS, head to Arkansas after the rally to find some curves.
