backrest/luggage rack for california
« on: January 07, 2015, 12:40:28 AM »
I haven't been around since I sold my guzzi several years ago but thought I'd point out that I have a backrest/luggage rack for sale on ebay in case someone on the forum is interested. Hope you all are surviving the winter!

Chrome rack with folding backrest and hand grab rails. In perfect, as-new condition. Used once, for only several weeks, on a 2000 California Bassa. Fits California Sport of that era as well. This is a Moto Guzzi product and is a well crafted, high quality piece.

Part No. 3976231

I have this rack and loved it on my Aluminum. Need to get it fixed and installed on the Jackal. Good buy for someone needing a rack.

I may be interested. I assume this bolts right up to a Jackal?

No. It will not bolt up to a Jackal due to different side covers, fenders, etc. The bassa/special/special sports have their own backrest rack not compatible with EV's or Jackal/Stones.

Guzzi offered an OEM rack and backrest made by Jardine for the Bassa/Special.  I had it on my Bassa, it was well made and held up great over the years.   I took the padded back rest off at some point and put a top box on.  I have since sold the bike and rack with it, but I do still have the padded back rest.  If anyone can use it PM, I'll box it up for you for $10 pluss shipping.  It's chromed steel, but made only to fit the mounting kit.  If you have a bike with the rack, you already have the mounting kit.   Jardine no longer offers the set up, but you can see the passanger backrest at this site.

looks just like the one pictured.

I think you can still get the HB stuff from this place. I bought some stuff from them about 10 years ago. Difficult to communicate with at the time but got the right stuff. The Euro is getting cheap again so maybe not so expensive.

I believe you can mount this same back rest to a Jackal, by the looks of it, I think you would just need to elongate the holes. I could be wrong. Haven't done it yet ha ha.
