V9 multi media platform
« on: September 18, 2020, 09:53:54 AM »
Afternoon All

Just got me a 2017 V9 Roamer and first impressions are that I really like it.

I'm wondering if it has the MGMP fitted

Can anyone with a V9 tell me where its fitted/looks like or upload a picture?

Cheers

On the V7 the module bolts to a plate along side the battery right behind the side cover.

Easy way to test is to turn the key on, and look in the bluetooth settings of your phone to see if the MGMP is broadcasting. It will be PMP or MGMP or something like that.  I did it 2 years ago, so I forget it I paired it or not. I know I had to on the MGX, but not sure on the V7/9 module. You could also download and install the app, then when you turn on the key and open the map, it will display the bluetooth radios available. Once it connects the app will load with data. If it doesnt, it will cycle a while then display an error message.

Is about $350 if I recall. Not cheap, and while I like it, wish it had some measure of engine temp. Guzzi diag gives engine temp and air intake temp data so the ECU is tracking it, but the MGMP doesn't give that option.  Has a bunch of info though.  **Note that the Speedo is NOT GPS speed, it reads the same as the speedometer (+4-5mph optimistic)

I don't understand a word of what's being said.   Maybe it's something I don't normally associate with motorcycles?

Lannis,

Guzzi sells a "Multimedia Module" that plugs into the ECU and through a bluetooth connection and APP on your phone broadcasts info like: Voltage, Speed, RPM, Instant and Average Fuel Economy, Power, Torque, Eco, Tilt, Gear selected, TC mode, etc.  It gives 5 user selected displays on the screen, 4 small 1 large.  It also has the quaint feature where the little eagle on the screen is green when you are riding 'economically' and red when not.  Also, when you get to redline the whole screen flashes red/amber and a bunch of other goofy stuff.

I suspect the V9 is similar to the V7 III in which case the MGMP "Bluedash" connector is a Gray 8-port (5 occupied) connector near the battery.  The cable is marked MGMP.  Do NOT move this cable unless you will be installing the MGMP (watch for my P1607 topic).

Thanks Bulldog, I dont desperately want it (especially for $350) but if it's there I might as well use it

The bike came with heated grips, decent SW Motech luggage and Hagon shocks, so somebody invested money in it before me so its possible

Cheers

What's your point?

I've had to relearn points on the Convert. I was going to swap out the points for a Dyna unit as I have on probably five or six cars over the swapping from points to a Mallory or pertronix breakerless ignition, but I think I'm going to leave the convert as is.

It was for Lannis, Low Tech vs High tech. I own 1 FI Guzzi. Most riders or wrenches have no idea what a magneto or points are about. They know CDI box's.
