To be clear, Steve is pointing to a V9 Bobber, in anniversary colors…unusual

Ya, it must be about the end of the line for all the Centenario flavors.

I like everything about the Bobber...except that pathetic "peanut gas tank!"

Remember the 2.5 gallon tank on the old Sportsters?  Pretty useless for trips, but OK for around town...

I put my bikes away with a full tank regardless of the size of the tank or fuel economy.  Gas stations are so plentiful that we might see an occasional sign saying last gas for 20 miles.

I wouldn't call the bobber a touring bike, but you can definitely tour on it just as well as I can tour on my Van Van or KLX300SM.  Luggage, Rotopax if going out west, and hit the road.

Except when you are crossing NEVADA...where one must heed the sign saying:

NEXT GAS 100 MILES

V9s hold 4 US gallons.  I have gone 160 miles on a tank and still had didn’t run out, so crossing the desert should be a breeze.

I checked and the Bobber gas tank is indeed 4 gallons, so I stand corrected, NOT a peanut tank!
That's plenty... :thumb:

Heck I hate only having a 250 miles range on some of my motorcycle. Not that gas stations are not plentiful or I don't need a stop before 250 miles to pee but I've seen enough gas stations to know what they are about. I rather have enough fuel for a day's+ ride then I can stop where/when I want and enjoy the ride and scenery not see another roller grill filled up with 2 for $1 hot dogs or the Marlboro's display.

Easily solved by carrying a rotopax and not being stuck choosing bikes only by their range.

I am in Bishop and thinking of going to Tonopah and then Ely. No gas between Tonopah and Ely, 160 miles. I will have enough fuel but close. The 1400s need bigger tanks too, 4.7 gallons. My V7's is larger for Pete's sake, 5.3.

Not recommend but some riders would use the Dunkin Donut coffee jugs to carry gas, packs small, pretty strong.I filled one with gas for a couple of weeks and it didn't leak. But in the end I still didn't trust it.

Having dealt with Rotopax in the past I won't do it again. Honestly if this was the best fix I'd just bungee a 5 gallon gas from the shed to the pillion seat. But carrying fuel in anything other than the bikes fuel cell is a PITA.

Sure, the home plastic jug would work, just not as safe.  I have no issue with my Rotopax.  It doubles the range of my Van Van while in the woods.

The V85 Centenario is now sold out.  We had to break the bad news to one of our pre-sold customers.  Not enough came over on the last go, and they are not bringing it back.    If a dealer has one available still, jump on it, it'll be gone very soon.
