Steve Cas:
Hi all,

The GF 7 I are planning a 4 day trip to Savannah at the end of Feb.  Any tips, places to stay, must see sights and place to avoid?

GF 7?   My gosh, you have to NUMBER them?

You're sailing pretty close to the wind, guy, you might not make it to Savannah ....

That aside, that's a good destination for this time of year ... lot nicer weather than most of us are having.   Hope you have a good time ....

First thing I would do is check out the Waterfront Association's calendar for the dates that you will be there.  The Waterfront will be your main attraction.

I won some money on that casino boat they have so I'd have to go try to give back to them but that's just me.

Tybee beach is a touristy spot but I always enjoy it.  Hilton Head is an hour away if you want to go upscale.

I've always wanted to go the Mighty Eighth Air Museum but never made it:  http://mightyeighth.org/

Just walking the old streets/circles or maybe doing the Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil tour is an easy bet (maps available).

I go there a couple of times a year. Go upstairs in Kevin Berrie's Pub on River Street. Sit at a window, and watch the ships going up and down Savannah river while drinking a Smithwicks or three.
If the weather is good, it can be crowded on the weekend. If you are looking for a quiet place, head an hour south to Jeckyll Island.

Teresa and I try to make Savannah yearly for the Music Festival.
We like East Bay Inn for accommodations (Melvin the Bell Man will treat you right).
Favorite restaurants are Alligator Soul (try the Kangaroo - really), Garibaldi for dinner; Pink House is touristy and pricey and long waits but OK otherwise.
For lunch any number of places along the river.

Definitely a walking town.

Have fun.
