Sad, but true.  Most of the rock heroes of the Sixties and Seventies are approaching their 80s, and some of them led hard rock-n-roll lives, Crosby included.

Frankly, with his health woes I'm surprised he lived this long.

RIP

Well he did get a new liver and cleaned up his life some. Still one of my all time favorites and one of the groups that support my "we had the best music ever" argument. Also reminds me I am getting up on that age bracket too. :(

Oh man,  this one touches deep.  Laughing/Traction in the Rain/Cowboy Movie/What are their Names.........
So many incredible memories listening to him and Nash, of course Stills and Young on other collaborations.
We used to call it "Wood Music" because of the richness of the guitars and blending of the vocals.   This music just isn't being made anymore.
Always said if I was marooned on an island and had to choose 10 artists for the rest of my life, David Crosby would certainly be one.
Rock On.

Not the biggest fan of all time, But dang those 3 (sometimes 4) sure did sound great together. His book also was pretty interesting, Long Time Gone.

I'm not so sure about that -
Could it be it's being made, it's just not getting as much exposure as ...... whatever is popular and selling?

Whatever, RIP David Crosby.

Pretty cool dude. I met him unexpectedly during the 1992 Harley Davidson LOVE ride in LA out of Glendale HD. After the ride to the ranch ended just outside of the food tent picnic area I realized who I was standing next to as we turned to the stage only 15 feet away was Dwight Yokum singing. Lots of LA celebrities showed for the Glendale HD benefit Annual ride. Was THE MC event of the year back in the day.

Their lyrics meant nothing to me, and the music was too Mello. Just like other protest bands like U2, and Bruce Springsteen, you have to be living in the time, and agreeing with the message to get it. I did like some solo Neil Young songs though, but he was an acquired taste.

I remember the controversy surrounding his liver transplant.
"Crosby was the recipient of a highly publicized liver transplant in 1994, which was paid for by Phil Collins. News of his transplant created some controversy because of his celebrity status and his past problems with drug and alcohol addiction. Crosby's liver problems stemmed from a long run with hepatitis C. "

Supposedly jumped to the top of the list.

Creating a lasting impression on society is as close to immortality as a human can get, so he has that.  The rest of us will be forgotten and never known by the masses.

Music of my childhood...growing up in the 60's/70's in Berkeley, Santa Barbara, Bay Area, absolutely love CSN and CSNY...

Wooden Ships
Guinnevere
Helpless

Absolutely timeless music...was fortunate to see them here in Houston a while back...their voices were just as good as earlier.

Let’s keep this conversation focused on the man’s music and how folks were connected with his music and not his personal shortcomings and faults.
Thanks

My then girlfriend, now my wife were students at the U of Miami in 1971 and we regularly went to a small coffee house called 'The Flick' right off campus to see live acts.  The place didn't hold more than 50 people, if that.  You never knew who was going to be there, sometimes a local singer, sometimes some poet reciting gobbledygook, a singer, trio or quartet.  The place was so small that a quartet was about all that would fit on the small stage.  They didn't advertise much and cover charge, if there was one, was very reasonable.  One Saturday my girlfriend/wife stopped in and David Crosby was there all by himself.  He played his music, joked, and told some stories. If my memory serves me, he played only acoustic guitar no amp.  It was a very memorable experience.  We also saw George Carlin there one evening.
