RIP Sir Frank Williams
« on: November 28, 2021, 03:48:04 PM »
A true icon in the world of Formula 1 passed away today at the age of 79.  Williams F 1 achieved 114 victories and a combined 16 driver and constructors world championships while becoming the longest serving team boss in the sport's history.  If anyone out there is looking for something to read and research during the cold winter months I would suggest spending a little time on his life and accomplishments and over coming personal tragedy. From meager beginnings he built an organization to take on the giants of McLaren and Ferrari.   Truly an inspirational individual.  You will be deeply missed by the racing community of F 1.

A great loss.
He was always some kind of hero to me.

Let's hope at least his name will live on in F1 and may the team rise to former glory again.

For me forever linked with Alan Jones, our only F1 champ since Gentleman Jack Brabham. RIP.

F 1 World Driving Champions with Williams:  1. Alan Jones   2. Keke Rosberg  3. Nelson Piquet  4. Nigel Mansell   5. Alain Prost   6. Damon Hill  7. Jacques Villanue.   From 1987 champion  Nelson Piquet forward, all these drivers championships were after his motor car accident.

He had an amazing career and did a heckuva job in F1. A shame it went so poorly under his daughter's supervision.

Those Williams drivers were among my favorites.
In defense of Clair, the sport is SO much different, and not for the better.  And she was not the only one left for dead in the recent F1 past.  How anybody other than Mercedes and Ferrari and Red Bull field a car now is amazing.  Even Maranello cannot keep pace.  I was rooting for her but it did seem a bit too much for her-just like Hass, Alfa, and a few others.
