The stock sidestand on the SPII ranks as perhaps the worst ever design from Moto Guzzi. Impossible to deploy while seated astride the bike. Nearly vertical stance once deployed. Instantly self-retracting with the slightest bump.
There are several aftermarket fixes. Perhaps the best is a custom bracket and stand produced by Astico Moto of London. Alas, no longer produced or available unless you can stumble on a used one.
TADA! I own an Astico sidestand and it is now on the market for your bike. Alas, it is still attached to my bike. I won't part it out. You'll have to buy the whole thing. See my ad in the "Swap Meet" section of WildGuzzi. Just think of all of the extra spares that come with it.
