V7 II Special Mirrors
« on: May 23, 2017, 06:46:33 PM »
I'm finding the V7 II Special mirrors a little too close together. Must have been designed for those skinny Italians. Has anyone been down the path of finding good replacements?

Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

oh trust me...

even this skinning ass asian finds the mirrors are too close together. Seems to be a common issue for V7 series...maybe even others.

It does make my shoulder looks broader when I can see them in the mirrors LOL...

I went with Bar end mirrors.

I heard some people went with Aprilia Tuono mirrors as they are designed wider & more streamlining.

I also saw mirrors extenders before but I find those are freaking ugly...personal opinion, don't shoot me :P

I went with the OEM mirrors used on the 1200S, and some Aprilia models, and some other models. It was inexpensive and high quality, go figure.

I went with Honda replacement mirrors after a lay rh side down over night, but, I fitted mirror extender off the internet put at about 45 degrees to move the mirrors forward and outward.

Ditto, and I'm very happy with them.  Part numbers AP8104921 [R] and AP8104922 [L].  I think they're OEM on Norge, Stelvio and Griso models.  If you do put them on the V7(II) models, you don't need to use the spacer washers, which were there to prevent the original threaded mirror stalks from bottoming out on the handlebars before they're completely screwed in.

If the Aprilia ones don't work out, there is also these -

The LHS is a Napoleon Baren, the cheaper, the RHS a Rizoma Sport ? - expensive, but worth it. They work well & can also catch a glimpse of my luggage when touring. I don't know how well they'd work on standard bars.

I used Caponord mirrors on my V7ii Stone. Same mirror unit, longer stem.

BTW, I took an V9 for a test ride. I adjusted the mirrors so that the view directly behind me was an inch from the inner side of the mirror (to maximum the peripheral view). Started riding and could not see anything because my arms blocked the view. Stopped and re-adjusted the mirrors so that the view directly behind me was in the middle of the mirror. I could then see what was behind me when riding because it was further out than my elbows, but I lost some of the peripheral view. OK for a test ride, but not for every day use.

Oddly enough, they fixed the mirrors for the V7iii, as I have a great view.  I test rode a V7 and could not see anything but my arms

SW-Motec extenders.

Got them on my V7, also moved the mirrors so they butt up against the switch housings.

Works just fine for me.
